Cartridge price increases now getting silly

Yes there was a reg that saw lots of big big numbers, got openly slated by quite a few, will admit fair few of the shoots over the years have been more than a bit “tasty” which believe me caused even more angst. Wouldn’t be a course setter me, too tough a crowd to work with us clay crunchers.

    Beretta World 2023

Not for I but has anyone shot it? if so could you answer a q on how they are classifying entries, a few names I know have, yet from current CPSA period I’m seeing AAs in B, As in AA and Bs in A? Not that any are placed currently in prize list mind so no melt downs on horizon with these, but...

Shoot difficulty. And the elephant in the room.

MrJ have felt that the numbers of B (30% of membership) & in particular C (25%) in theory 55% of the entry are actually far less frequent shooters than the A and you AA AAA chaps, so yes the shoot average is disproportionately high. Can’t see any further changes to the existing system being...

    White Pheasant

Was still parading the side of the road this very week, £50 fine eh, that may actually be a lot cheaper than some figures being banded around for 2023-24!!

Sporting shoots 2023. How was it?

It’s splitting hairs but TO is / was £42, you are though correct one shouldn’t be seeing targets from other stands, and yes Roxtons will want a decent return from their “investment” hopefully over decades. Fortunately all my no birds were first targets so no cartridges unnecessarily used,

Sporting shoots 2023. How was it?

Coleys today, on late afternoon and weather was glorious, it seems first thing it was quite chilly so picked the right time of day to fall on ones face. Bit marmite for I this one, oh yes always think I should have done better but a few targets were a bit of a lottery I felt. St2 when on a l-r...

Sporting shoots 2023. How was it?

Not a reg, went to the Wye Valley Guns open day / comp at Longridge today, six stand 50 targets, two stands being three traps with A B C targets shot in a super sport style, with MrKeen and one’s brother with whom I’ve not shot with for a goodly while. Saw lots of friendly faces, some not seen...

    Pre mounting sporting

What Jasper said, to be successful in sporting there times when there will be an advantage with a full pre mount, will add that there does seem to a growing trend by some to have such for every target, which I do find odd

Sporting shoots 2023. How was it?

Well MrH as that simo pair outfoxed a wily old AA such as yourself you can imagine the faces us duffers pulled 🥺😠😡🤬

Sporting shoots 2023. How was it?

Another that went to Barbury, yes lovely weather, arms quite red this evening which for me is a most rare occurrence. 1pm start, already a AAA had made it known he thought it was "steady", well steady for AAA most probably yes, this old duffer soon made a hash of things. The one stand that...

    English open sporting

You are correct, there is no Super Final, highest score wins, will be quite a few shooting off for 2nd & below at present

    World English 2024 @ M & M

Even a duffer like me thinks that is all “wrong” with multiple selection shoots & two ESP majors in year there must be a way of generating funds so a significant contribution can be made.

    World English 2024 @ M & M

Oh am now wondering the overall cost to go and compete and for those that qualify to shoot for their country how much financial support they will receive?

    World English 2024 @ M & M

Main event $299, surely that makes this year’s Worlds at EJC at £155 a bargain?

Sporting shoots 2023. How was it?

Coleys today, its the sort of place / shoot where some make it look easy, others hard, am very much in the latter. Bright and sunny, no issues with the targets, no eyesight tests, yes a few coloured clays, all visible, no silly short windows so yes lots of them got broken, sadly not enough of...

Cartridges , value for money versus cost

Think most clay bashers are on far more than the median salary, crumbs lots of the motors (and most are privately owned) in the car park are that if not more alone, lots of guns we see are now north of 10k, look at the number of K80s all of which are premium price +. Like like yourself for most...

Cartridges , value for money versus cost

Nick, Ive had SGC since the late 80s, when Mrs, kids, mortgages, dire financial woes, cricket & rugby took precedence over clays I always kept the SGC and now it’s used and hearing the difficulty some have I’m really glad I kept it,  £1k?🤔 That RR of yours does about 14mpg the way you...

Cartridges , value for money versus cost

Mate, am another that has reduced his shooting, a habit of going out twice a week (although the dreaded work has also played its part ) does not draw me like it did, it will no doubt soon return in earnest ( probs with dry days & sunny skies ) or a it may ( it has ) take longer. Now your...
