    Shooting Grounds

A bit further south is Brook Bank near Street. Very compact ground and totally flat. If you are going along the M40 then EJ Churchill have a golf buggy available via pre booking.

    Old cartridges

I’m currently using some 20 year old Eley plastic wad no. 8’s. They shoot lovely but have been stored in a cool, dry place.

    Jersey Crabbe Clay range

Was in Jersey last weekend and pre arranged to shoot sporting at Crabbe using one of their club guns as a guest. Great ground on the cliffs overlooking the sea, good targets and a great bunch of guys and girls shooting there. Crabbe has multiple shooting clubs on site from clay to black powder...

Just Cartridges - Anyone Used/Using Them?

I recently bought 4,000 cartridges for Clark’s of Waltham (shop at Jimmy’s Farm). Saved over £150 on JC prices so even with £30 for the diesel to get there and back in the company motor, I still saved big time. But JC have massive stocks of just about every cartridge going inc some very obscure...

    WOW

Well this is a jolly thread - not! I’ve just spent £3,000 on an ex-demo Beretta 694 with 32” barrels and an adjustable stock. Absolutely mint condition. I then spent almost £900 on 4,000 cartridges. Then I bought a new gun slip for £30. I’ve started to learn practical shotgun. And I’m off to...

Is your gun a tool or something you worry will get damaged?

Having bought my 694, today I bought a new gun slip for it. I bought the one with the best padding the shop had, only cost £30 but will give the gun protection whilst I’m carrying it etc. yes I am OCD about keeping my stuff nice…..

    Another price increase

Never heard of Clarkes before reading this thread. At those prices it’s worth a trip over to stock up and have a day out in the countryside! They are a lot cheaper than JC on many cartridges. I paid £6.50 a box for Express 7.5 in fibre at my local shot this morning.

How much is too much ?

Several grounds offer cheaper clays if you are a member. I worked out at Oxford Gun Company you got your membership fee back in clay savings if you shot just over 2,800 clays at that ground in a year. Not impossible but still a lot. 42p a clay or so seems to be the price around here, having said...
