    What will you do ?

About a week a go I was all for trying to continue as normal but this isn't normal, far from it, so I'm staying in as much as possible until I'm told otherwise. I shot the compak at Owls Lodge yesterday and although I shot fairly well, it didn't feel right.

    Sporting Shoots 2020

Well shot, I got there first thing and struggled around for 83. A bit more spring/face on a few of the clays would have made it more enjoyable though.

    Sporting Shoots 2020

I gave the Churchill Challenge a go for the first time this morning, thankfully the wind and rain that was forecast didn't really materialise, enjoyed the course and the different format to the usual ESP I shoot most of.   You really have to have your wits about you, I felt mentally drained...

    Fiocchi Litespeed 26g

I think he's referring to the Velocity Hyperfasts, they are proper tooth-rattlers.

    Another Pilla question....

I've used the 10ED a lot for game shooting this season, they have been good on the rare occasions when the sun has been out. Ed Lyons should have them.

    My first game shoot

Glad you enjoyed it Sian, can be a bit daunting whenever you haven't done it before and when a big flush comes out as it's hard to know what to take.  Sounds like your day was far enjoyable than my first day ever, which was also in Wales.

Sporting Shoots; where- and how was it? (2018)

Started my winter training yesterday; couple of hours at Sporting Targets with Mr Solomons, luckily I can still hit them and just a couple of minor things that need working on. Will start back on the comps Feb time when the chicken shooting has finished but try to get some clays in every 2-3 weeks.

    Lead shot

God help us if lead ever gets banned. Shot some good driven duck yesterday where we have to use non-toxic, so I chose to use 36g 3s through 3/8 choke and it's just nowhere near as effective as lead; lots of 2nd barrel kills after definitely hitting with the 1st and a couple of times I actually...

    Who has what booked

First day today, and what a scorcher. Far too hot and still for the Partridge, they weren't really interested and took a real effort from the keeper and beaters to get them going. We shot 97 from 4 drives, everyone was behaving and letting a lot go, would rather shoot them when they are flying...

    Who has what booked

10 syndicate days starting from next Saturday spread until the end of December then 3 clear up days end of January, 2 days in Wales in October, ducks in Somerset in November, then ducks on a private shoot in January.

Awkward wasn't it, I was quite happy with 86

    Simulators and other training aids

I'd sooner spend £60 on a couple of hundred practice clays at Sporting Targets than an hour on a simulator. With regards to a shotkam or other barrel mounted camera, they have their uses but I'd spend the money on having some decent coaching before getting a camera. You might be able to see...

Not the magic answer this claims to be?

    Brave enough

No chance, was going to do EJC but sacked that off yesterday when I see how windy it was. Took my fishing rods out to a sheltered, quiet corner of a local lake and caught a few carp. Gunsite tomorrow if it's calmed down.

Get in touch with Ed Lyons, he will sort you out.

    Advice on coach

He'd also be the first to say that weekly coaching with him wouldn't be beneficial. There is of course a technical element with how he works, that all depends where you are with your shooting, but a big part of it is the process behind everything. I was seeing him every 5-6 months and every...

Sporting Shoots; where- and how was it? (2018)

I missed 4 on there and finished on 81; that included missing 3 on stand 2 and 5 on 4 which was that horrible sim pair. Shot the sportrap well enough; 21, 20, 23, 24 for 88

Sporting Shoots; where- and how was it? (2018)

Southdown first thing today, after checking the forecast last night it was due to be dry and how wrong did they get it. Started down the far end on 12 and worked my way back up, stayed dry on 12 then it rained, rained, and rained some more.  Ended up rushing everything as the fun quickly went...

Sporting Shoots; where- and how was it? (2018)

Honesberie this morning, happy with 90 and just the one bad stand, 8 (I think) with the orange L-R battue and R-L standard off the low tower, missed 4 on there, gave the battue miles too much. The pink, edge on thing one 10 was a silly target IMO, even I found it hard to see but managed to hit...
