    Time for a treat

There’s a lot of clay shatter around there. Stick it in a slip, quick!

    Time for a treat

It might be that in a very slow moving and traditional industry, it’s still a comparatively “new” name so not as trusted yet. Give it another decade, might be better..

    Time for a treat

The most open ended question with no solid answer. But it fascinates us all as we’ve all been there.. “Not bothering with comps” does place you in the “no idea why you’re doing it then” category to me. 😅. But that doesn’t make me right, just different. However it means your drivers for change...

    Shoot reports and news 2024

No I was later. 9am looks best time tomorrow, before the nasty winds at lunchtime. Good luck!

    Shoot reports and news 2024

Cancelled Northampton tomorrow looking at the 55mph wind forecast yesterday. Of course it’s improved a bit now.. Will be interesting to hear how people get on with the wind.

If anybody can translate, I’ll read it.

    Beretta 694 sporting choke replacements

Play cartridges, it’s easier and they make far more difference..

    Beretta 694 sporting choke replacements

I have a 694 and just bought another Beretta 1/4 choke so use two same.

    Shoot reports and news 2024

I’m knackered. I’ve shot 5 days out of the last 8, much of it freezing weather. I did get through today well enough at Redricks. Wasnt my highest score of all the shoots, but I only missed 1 clay that I would call “silly“, so a decent end to the marathon. I’m now having a huge break and will not...

    Fibre and Choking

I used to pattern at 10,20,30. Then realised I was wasting my time really. 15 yards tells the tale for what I want. Longer is just an exaggeration of that result.

    Fibre and Choking

Yeah… I wasn’t saying cartridges are only capable of 16 yards. But if you want to compare patterns, what emerges at 16 yards is very telling. Can’t recall where I read it was the optimal distance to study the results but makes sense to me. I usually do 15..

    Browning firing pins.

I don’t think this is the point, all the wear is from the combustion of the primer on the tip of the pin surely.

    Fibre and Choking

That’s why the accepted optimal distance for evaluating patterns is 16 yards.

    Fibre and Choking

I do, but really long edge on targets are pretty unusual these days so in reality it’s mostly fine. The Westfield course had none. Didn’t do the pool shoot

    Fibre and Choking

I use 1/4 choke. That’s half as much, because I’m only half as good as a World Champion.

    Newbie in London

EJ Churchill is a great resource for you and you’ll meet people if you go there. Once you’ve got going with some practice rounds, try the Thursday CPSA shoots which are shot in squads (groups) and that’s a good way to watch and chat to others.

    Fibre and Choking

Pro Fibres are a classy shell that hold a decent pattern. As Martin implies, worry about everything else.

    Miss fire!

I take the barrels off and press a penny over the firing pin hole on the breech face. Pull the trigger. You can feel a good hit, it almost hurts your finger. Anything less, a sign of something wrong.

    Miss fire!

Unlikely the new gun (although Browning firing pins will do this to you in the future, they aren’t the best).

    Shoot reports and news 2024

Another decent course at Hornet / College farm today but wow was it biting cold. I knew it was 1 degree so had dressed as well as you can and still shoot but.. We started in the shady corner by the field platform where a North wind blew at us. Two stands there and missed a few as just struggled...
