    DT11 Black Edition

I was looking for a good one a few months back. TBH I rather got spooked when I realised Beretta had stopped making them. Just worried me a bit, but if a really good one fell in front of me I’d be tempted.

    Inaccurate score counts

I’ve seen 100 target courses set that had less than 100..

Sporting shoots 2023. How was it?

Scores show you as 27/100, which is wrong. If you’re at all worried about the effect on your average, get that corrected to 27/40 or whatever..

    Noob Again - Lead

OK, I’ll bite. I’m in the measurement and logic camp in terms of explaining / seeing lead. The laws of physics alone are at play here, not witchcraft. However, people are different so there are plenty of caveats around what people see as lead. Sometimes this is down to an erratic shooting style...

    Noob Again - Lead

If you match the gun with the speed of a medium speed clay, a decent reference point is foot of lead for every ten yards distance..

Which mid range Beretta for sporting clays only ?

Agree, 692 a nice handling gun with a lighter barrel feel perhaps. Issues as mentioned above would stop me having one full stop. Pretty sure 694s are reliable now, maybe the early ones not so much. 2020 onwards is my feel for it.. Mine is just over a year old, faultless.

I think they are fine. I know of at least one that gets heavy use no issue. Maybe don’t bash the rib. Lovely feel gun.

    Cone height

It’s good to want get things right! But seriously make sure you’re a great example of gun hold before doing anything else.

Politicians again.....licences for each firearm owned

Yes, a total Richard Cranium. If he’s worried about somebody keeping many weapons then he should be arguing for a limit per premises. Lobbying for a separate piece of paper per weapon is nonsense, pointless and just shows how little he has thought this through or understands the situation.

    Adjustable Comb: Feels like home??

There is a chance you and your shooting stance are exactly the right shape for the standard gun. It’s actually more likely that you aren’t, so an adjustable is NEVER a bad idea (given that you can set it in non adjusted position if you want). It’s very easy to confuse “can I shoot this perfectly...

    Cone height

Ok, “cone” is maybe not the term you’re intending? Do you mean the heel of the stock pad is sitting above your shoulder? Gun fit involves many things and chopping the gun around should only be done after the shooter is standing, mounting and holding correctly. It’s very common for new shooters...

Sporting shoots 2023. How was it?

Started with a daft last pair lost on stand 1. The yellow on stand six was a killer for me. Never hit it. It was almost invisible when I shot. Thought it was further out and was in front every time. Finished 88 but felt a big score should have been possible. 😝

    Noob Again - Lead

GD and his like are so talented that I’m not sure you can follow what they do. Their biggest advantage is the millions of cartridges they’ve fired. I think Swing Through is usually necessary for beginners, as it forces movement where stopping and poking is the early problem. However, it’s a...

    Passive ear plug query

No way. Much of the noise travels around the ears, then into the ears. Plugs are never going to do a great job compared to good earphones. I hate using them for this reason especially in close proximity to walls and roofs.

    British Open, Garlands

It does seem that day 1 made it look nastier than it is perhaps.

    British Open, Garlands

I’m not entered for this, but looking at the results it sure looks a low scores affair. Sometimes that can mean a great course that is a firm fair test. Other times it can mean it was just brutal. Interested to hear what anybody shot it thought. A AA mate of mine did say he didn’t straight a...

Sporting shoots 2023. How was it?

Hangmanstones for me yesterday. A very full shoot. Cars parked in the field. A limit of 160 supposedly but a ref told me over 200. Took us 3 hours to get round, with a queue of 25 on our last stand. A good course though with several proper long targets and the 98 HG was very impressive. I had a...

    Oxford Gun Company Issue

I would like to think if I had made good money for storage and then sold the gun later for a percentage that I would have made a good overall deal for the gun owner that reflected the spirit of the thing, rather than “letter of the law”. I’ve certainly done similar common-sense deals in my...

Sporting shoots 2023. How was it?

Barbury on a very sweaty day today. Great to see MartinJ and Donna from here. A worthy course as ever, with several very tricky sim pairs. No real card fillers. Well, the one I thought was simple cost me two losses. 😅. I missed last target on stand 5 due to being peppered with shot, but...

    Beretta 694 Problem

Yes I agree that with so many Berettas around, you have a high chance of hearing about any that go wrong. Balance that against the silent happy customers
