    Buying a gun

Yes of course it is just that I have seen some guns that are said to be near new and from the pictures do not look as good as my own gun... I just wanted to know if it would be unreasonable to pitch my gun in at the same price even though it is 10 years old.

    Buying a gun

If you were buying a gun what would be more important when it came to the asking price. The actual age of the gun or the condition of the gun? For example would you be inclined to spend more on a gun that is much older but in better condition than a similar gun ? Reason I ask is I am selling my...

Think your Sunday is going badly? Look at my barrel..

Having really looked closely at the photographs of the damaged choke I really do think that it will be difficult to tell from looking at the choke barrel interface if there is a gap whether it is because the choke was not screwed fully up or has moved due to the violent way the wad has forced...

Think your Sunday is going badly? Look at my barrel..

gambit noun [C] (CLEVER ACTION). a clever action in a game or other situation that is intended to achieve an advantage and usually involves taking a risk; I am not sure why you chose this word in this context it is tacky to say the least. I am not certain what you are trying to say here. It is...

Think your Sunday is going badly? Look at my barrel..

Firstly I really doubt any other company would have done different ... it is just the way it is. The Browning chokes are as said made by another firm but very importantly are of a better design in the first place. The other thing is that I would be willing to bet there will be more meat on the...

Think your Sunday is going badly? Look at my barrel..

The make chokes which are threaded to to the barrel therefore it must be possible for them to cut and extend these barrels surely like an extended fixed choke? They pride themselves on being precision engineers this cannot be beyond them. I think it would come down to cost and practicality. I...

Think your Sunday is going badly? Look at my barrel..

My final comment on this 😄 The OP knows he has looked after his gun properly and that the chokes were in good condition and screwed into the gun properly but for some reason one of the chokes failed. He has received a report that essentially says nothing other than all the things that he could...

Think your Sunday is going badly? Look at my barrel..

This is the very point Teague like all companies are trying to protect their own image. The have had an independent expert examine the gun and give a written report it is the first thing any company would do in the same situation.  This gives the complainant a feeling of fairness and that all is...

Think your Sunday is going badly? Look at my barrel..

I do not agree. I think the choke has not been removed because Firstly the gun does not belong to Teague and unless you gave them permission the investigators would not do that the would not because removing it could be prejudicial . Secondly and most importantly who wrote the report? Was is a...

Think your Sunday is going badly? Look at my barrel..

This is a good thread I like a bit of debate😄 Martyn like yourself I would like to know who wrote that report. Further more as I said in an earlier post what is the significance of the removal of the undamaged choke it is not in question has not failed and cannot add anything at all to the...

Think your Sunday is going badly? Look at my barrel..

Yes these will have been chokes that have not been properly tightened ... the exact opposite of this case where the choke was not blown out !

Think your Sunday is going badly? Look at my barrel..

Agreed... but that does not exonerate Teague . Teague have not said anything concrete BUT as I have said before they know it would cost a fortune to have the work done that could point a finger at them and they know that is not going to happen. Totally nothing to do with this incident but if...

Think your Sunday is going badly? Look at my barrel..

For the avoidance of doubt I think that most companies would probably do what Teague have and state that there are many ways in which this type of malfunction could happen. I would say that from the customers angle a confidential and without prejudice award of some sort from Teague may probably...

Think your Sunday is going badly? Look at my barrel..

I agree but when it comes to the actual barrels of the gun the manufacturer has designed them to be with a movable choke whereas this gun was as you say fixed choke and then cut to take movable chokes... there is quite a difference in my opinion.

Think your Sunday is going badly? Look at my barrel..

I do not want to be perceived as bad mouthing Teague precision - there's just no value in that.  The really funny thing is that just because something has precision or is precise... it does not automatically follow that is is necessarily accurate. It is usually associated with...

Think your Sunday is going badly? Look at my barrel..

I have to say this is the best option for anybody who has a gun that has movable chokes. Think about it. They made the gun and their design is what the tooling is set up to reproduce.

Think your Sunday is going badly? Look at my barrel..

The picture they are trying to paint is that of a badly cared for gun... that simple as it fits their narrative. I dare say the insurance loss adjuster will want to have a look as well. Not going to say he is your friend but if it can save them money he may pursue Teague's if of course he thinks...

Think your Sunday is going badly? Look at my barrel..

It is a standard deflection of blame because it is difficult and costly for the owner to prove otherwise. All Teague have actually done is protect themselves by being proactive with the report. Buy a gun that was designed by the maker to be a movable choke gun and stick with the chokes they...
