Breaking news: High rib gun freaks man out at Orston

Yes, of course. You could be right there. If the Pro has say a  steel rib and the vantage an anodised aluminium rib, I guess they could be about the same mass. I have to admit, when I tried the 30” Vantage and the 32” pro, both felt the same, but balance is everything, the 32” vantage feeing...

Breaking news: High rib gun freaks man out at Orston

Yes, I’ve had that confirmed by numerous sources that should be in the know and by that, I’m not meaning gun shop staff with an agenda. ( I wasn’t born cynical... the world made me that way) That said, I’m not sure how you could compensate for a rib. There’s quite a bit of material in there...

Breaking news: High rib gun freaks man out at Orston

Sorry Ben, but I rather think that’s an observation, not for me a conclusive answer. I tried two F3’s in the shop Will. Each were balanced quite differently. The first was a 32” LH and was indeed a bit nose heavy. The second was a 30” RH and was much more ‘neutral’. All this was just in the...

Breaking news: High rib gun freaks man out at Orston

After careful thought and reading all your comments, it dawned on me why I was so surprised.  it hadn’t occurred to me that the drop on a F3 Pro is 38/50 or 40/55m. On the Vantage it is 37/48mm Measured from the rib of course. The rib On the vantage being about 15mm higher, this the stock is...

Shouldn't there be a glut of cartridges?

Even tacit that would be illegal of course.  that said, there is really very little price difference between cartridge manufacturers. So there is parity which could look like a cartel to an outsider. They all have their budget to premium range. That just makes good business sense. The company I...

Breaking news: High rib gun freaks man out at Orston

Went to Orston yesterday with my son and shot skeet for the first time. Foot note, the pair from the middle stand... holy cow! I only ever saw one clay Anyway, my son was trying out the Blaser F16 as he is right handed and therefore can’t really try my F16 out. The plan is for him to inherit my...

Shouldn't there be a glut of cartridges?

Hull accounts I've been told can be a bit misleading as they also include sales of Wiehrauch accounting for approximately 1/2 their turnover

Shouldn't there be a glut of cartridges?

@Cosmicblue  I wish you would talk to my employer. I’ve been trying really hard for the past 18 months to get the execs to understand that price and value are not the same thing.  Pricing fear and irrational discounts coupled with a lack of understanding of customer acquisition costs  has...

Shouldn't there be a glut of cartridges?

Graded five times too no less! and shinier than the shiniest shiny thing from shinyville during the shiny festival  measured them shot  with a micrometer I did. For those that don’t know, a micrometer is like a G clamp but with numbers on to make you look more cleverer. biggest variation in...

    Closing the gun

This is Old Blighty. That possibility would never occur to an Englishman, much less those of a more Celtic persuasion. If we did, nowt would ever get done. Come to think of it... nowt ever gets done. You may have a point

Shouldn't there be a glut of cartridges?

Literally had me crying with laughter! So true too in my opinion. That said, I have been lured by Gamesbore blue diamond, because I do find them quite soft. Probably a placebo. This was after me shooting 250 of each back to back with Hull 100 which I felt were quite firm. Prior to this...

    Closing the gun

Well, there’s a first time for everything. In this instance, I don’t entirely agree with you. I don’t entirely disagree either, so maybe this is a half a first time for everything? Ive only ever shot once where I used a slip. On the occasion, it was a gun that was loaned to me via a third...

Shouldn't there be a glut of cartridges?

I’ve been finding cartridges harder to come by recently, though getting easier by the week. I have no idea if any of the cartridge manufacturers stopped producing or furloughed staff, but it would make sense to have done so in my opinion. Also, I’m not seeing why cartridge ps would be cheaper...

    Closing the gun

Well my girlfriend would come in handy once more. She’s used to dragging 20kg of luggage through a hotel reception.    *Its 23.8kg

    Closing the gun

@Luke_(NL)  It can fit two guns, magicbore, Legia spray, vests, ear defenders, gloves, eyewear, snacks, drinks, pack away rain coats and 300 cartridges. If my girlfriend were to pack it, she could probably get enough for a squad of six and a hairdryer in there too

    Closing the gun

Looking for a nondescript way of transferring from car to house, I found this https://www.niwaki.com/store/tool-bag/ there are similar alternatives much cheaper. Some less than a tenner

    Nonsense

With a standard dimensioned stock on my Blaser F16 and even after shortening by 20mm, I was forever shooting over the top of pretty much all presentations.. I raised the comb by 6mm and dropped the heal by 6mm and now don’t have any problem placing the pattern. The pitch remained the same...

    Closing the gun

Its unbelievable! How anyone wouldn’t open a gun before putting it into a slip or taking it out. No matter how carefully checked that the gun is unloaded... “The gun is always loaded” That’s the only safe assumption  I’ve taken a bit of flack for my flashing LED snap caps project and...

    Nonsense

I think your logic is well founded to be honest. To be ‘accurate’ you would have the Center of the pattern over the centre of the clay.  If the pattern out at the distance of the clay is say 30” then your accuracy has to nominally be within Plus or minus 12” to 13” making sure the pattern...
