    How to get better?

Peejay. My comments on the original question will match many above - particularly Jonny English - get some lessons from a decent coach and take their advice. The initial few months is a rapid learning curve. Much changes, including mount, gun fit, the clays you see, muscle memory and control...

    Blaser Cup 2024

I agree that with the weather “**** happens, get over it”. As a wider philosophy of life I care a bit more than that !! I understand entirely that setting targets is not easy – the big boys want them harder and those lower down the rankings, easier. I’m not saying it’s something I want to do or...

    Blaser Cup 2024

I would add that apart from a few Blasers under a tent which you could try and a 'goody bag' with a catalogue in it (and no goodys as such) there was nothing of interest beyond the shoot itself. No advantage to having a Blaser (if there ever is) and no maintenance/servicing people to talk to -...

    Blaser Cup 2024

I understand entirely where you are coming from Paraz - I think they struggle because one round was on the standard ground (and almost entirely in the trees) and the other out in the open. I was talking to one guy who found the distance stuff easier than the tree stuff - I was the other way...

    Blaser Cup 2024

I shot it on the Saturday - dropped 9 on the 'Coley' layout and 21 on the 'F16' layout. The later was affected by the wind but to the extent that it was - to me - a learning curve. If the wind was (any) worse on the Friday it could (very) easily have been a lottery. On the F16 layout there...

Wanted Browning Medallist 12 bore Ejectors

Just be aware that the fittings of ejectors is not a cheap job - they will need the timing adjusting and may also need rimming (to ensure the cartridge sits correctly) - so you might be looking at £200 in total or £150+ if you already have the part. If you still have the bits, laser welding may...

    Vests and Insurance

Martin. Probably should have stressed the PL cover required is under the contents section (and quite possibly repeated under any All Risks extension) and picks up the bulk of the potential liabilities of property occupation (not ownership which is under the buildings section) and also the...

    Vests and Insurance

No. But whatever vest suits you best - they are the same thing. There are a few threads on here about different types but if you are starting out a Jack Pike one should sort you. Other brands are available but to get a decent one you are talking £100+. Insurance is optional - there is no legal...

Blaser F3 - Competition vs Professional?

I would suggest a call to Mulliners. There have been quite a few changes to F3s over the years including the angle of the bite. I shoot one but don't even know what I've got !!!. Mulliners are the UK Specialist and I'm sure will give you 5 minutes on the phone given they do all of the major...

    Honesberie registered

They have stopped doing them. As I understand it there was a complaint(s) regarding noise and the profit element from the events made arguing with the locals pointless. The main ground is quite upmarket and I'm sure their driven days make better business sense. It is real shame - probably one...

    Choke Grease

YCS - Rocol Sapphire would match that description.

    Gun Trader new website 😩😩😩

Apparently people think change is progress. There's even a career.

    Choke Grease

I would agree with Martin. As above I use Rocol Sapphire which is messy stuff but the choke is fast until removed when it comes out nice & easy with a friction key. No rattling out during a round. I would not leave them in for the 7000 rounds Will referred to above !!!! I have got up to 2,000...

    Shoot reports and news 2024

I was underneath it with it curving away. Pushed the lead out thinking I was short, then a bit more again, then a rethink and hit it. Another learning curve !!!

    Shoot reports and news 2024

Did we chat at Kibworth as you were making you way to be first on the driven stand (10) ??. My 'problem' stand was 12 the rabbit and midi - messed up a decent card by dropping 4 (3 of the midi) and ending up on 85. Dropped 5 silly ones going round so i should have been in the money (!!!). My...

    Shooting vest recommendation

Cuffers is selling some Castellani vests - they are high end but quite spenny albeit he has some decent savings. My vote has always been Musto - I have three thinking they would wear out the first one is doing just fine.

    Malfunction of gun or cartridge

Fiocchi cartridges often have deep set primers. They are usually the first brand to fail with worn pins - particularly on Brownings which pit. It's for the shooter to get the cartridge & gun combination right though I would concur with refs being sympathetic unless under scrutiny themselves.
