    Prescription Shooting glasses

There are a few good options around these days. Steward's and Optilabs supply the Zeiss/Zeiss - style frames with own brand lenses. The frames last a lifetime, lens choice is limited but they are good value - you can get a couple of pairs sub £300 if memory serves. Lots of places supply Oakley...

What do you consider to be the best 3 Pilla lenses to buy?

Seeing them is a good thing! It may be purple is a good colour for you, they don't have to be Pilla though.  You may find the same effect from Randolph or Castellani and have lots of change spare to spend on shooting! Pm me if you need anything for a shootclay discount ??

    Which one lens suits all?

Depends on budget and aesthetic choice really. I stock the Pilla Stingers and Mustangs in the 10ED and 76HC filtrations for game, plus the Oakley Prizm series. Pm me if any are of interest and I can sort a shootclay discount ??

    Light transmission and tint-color?

Interesting. Do you have the link to that paper?

    Light transmission and tint-color?

I think we're on tenous ground suggesting that occasional sunspec use has a negative effect on ocular circulation... Cataract is the leading cause of sight loss in Africa. Unfortunately, there is a marked difference in the African population's access to ophthalmic care than in Europe and the...

    Light transmission and tint-color?

Yes, the pupil size is adjusted by the two groups of muscles, the sphincter pupillae and the dilator pupillae. Average pupil sizes go from 2 to 8mm and as you say respond to light levels. However, the judicious use of sunglasses will not have a detrimental effect on the efficacy of these in the...

Whats your favourite Pilla lens colour and why?

I have a couple of lenses that i really like, all of which are dark to some degree as i'm rather light sensitive. There was some interesting claims on another thread about lenses and light transmission... My favourites are the 10ED for full sun, the 22N and 44N for general shooting conditions...

    Mercury Hearing

I spent some time with jason Gibson from Mercury Hearing yesterday and have a few products on order which look really interesting. I must say ive perhaps overlooked the hearing protection aspect (probably in a similar way to how people feel about eyes/glasses etc) having relied on foam plugs...

    Pilla Puma - any experience?

Agree with all the above! The Pumas were a nice design, but they're now discontinued so there wont be any warranty or spare parts available. They ARE compatible with the Outlaw X6 series though which is a newer model

    back to glasses ?

Generally great and are a "first fit" choice for many Optometrists these days due to the ocular health benefits conferred by the super high oxygen permeability. Some problems can be a reduced comfort level (they can be stiffer lenses) and more deposition as they can attract greasy lipids out of...

    back to glasses ?

Evening everyone! Contact lenses can be really useful, especially for very short sighted people like myself. At -7.00 diopters, whilst i could make some prescription shooting glasses for myself, they could end up being heavy and unsightly. Luckily, my contact lenses give me perfect vision, so i...

    Bifocals

I've been working with a lens lab to produce some shooting specific lenses for Pilla specs that have a bifocal zone for reading and other near tasks without compromising distance vision. Here's what we've come up with, a double bifocal in a Pilla Mustang frame in 76HC yellow and a single bif in...

    Glasses Steaming Up.

Steaming up is a bit of a pain. Warm faces and cold atmosphere inevitably lead to fogging... As said above, better fitting glasses to allow airflow can be useful, venting prescription lenses and using demisting spray can all help. The motorcycle visor stuff is particularly good ?

    Vision Express for sports vision

Glad you got sorted out Westley! Couple of points of interest - sometimes when prescriptions are issued from the Hospital Eye Service, a clinician may want to check it over to confirm results, as if it's not correct then that Optician is then stuck with the bill for remaking the glasses. If you...
