    Shooting fitness

I don't workout specifically for shooting and my routines incorporate as many muscle groups as possible. I have several fixed hand weights and various weights for the adjustable dumbells which are pretty much left at about 18lbs each, whereas my clay gun weighs a lot less at 8lb 3oz. I also have...

    Beretta SL2 release

What it comes down to is that Beretta is rich enough that they can afford to throw it at the wall and see if it sticks. Personally I couldn't contemplate buying a shotgun that costs as much as a small car, regardless of who makes it, but those who would spend that amount probably want a bit more...

    Beretta SL2 release

It's hard to work out what's going on with Beretta's product planning dept. It's all very well wanting to play in every market sector from the SP 1 and up but they now have 2 separate overlapping premium lines. No doubt the SL2 & 3 are nice guns - albeit somewhat orphan products - but...

Chicken Bhuna!   Phooey!   Real men have a Madras at the very least. Gotta give the innards a decent workout as well as the muscles.🤣

    Shooting fitness

I'm a believer in physical fitness and for many years I've worked out with weights 2-3 times a week. We have a selection of hand weights and kettlebells at home as well as a bench and a cross trainer all set up in a spare room (kids have grown up and fled the nest). Under strict instructions...

Sporting shoots. Your personal accounts. 2022

Don't get me wrong, Fred and I have been mates for many years and he will be missed when he finally hangs up his ear defenders.  But there have been a few moans about him, although I don't doubt we all get moaned about. I've been banned by Coley's and totally upset a stalwart of the Fitasc...

    Mk60 Fixed Chokes

Most MK60s are 1/4 and 3/4 which is what yours measures. What are the stamps?

Sporting shoots. Your personal accounts. 2022

I've known Fred for over 20 years and yes he's a character, but he can be quite distracting and at least one ground won't have him as he has a tendency to "help" competitors by advising them on things like how much lead the target needs or where to shoot it. I never shoot Fred's stand unless...

Funny that, it's exactly what Mrs Jasper said once when I was reffing at Longridge. 🤣

Sporting shoots. Your personal accounts. 2022

Average protection mode is fatal and putting that pressure on yourself leads to hanging on which according to my theory is a primary cause of flinching. But you probably already know that. As Jim, the ex manager at Ian Coley's used to say: "Stop thinking and just shoot the bloody thing".

Westfield for me too, even though I was sworn off registered till after treatment. Fact is cabin fever got the better of me and given the good shooting weather I just had to get out for a pop at the clays. Enjoyed the course today, my consistency is still lacking but everything was hittable as...

    Falling numbers of shooters.

Well if you happen to be based in the west country it's not falling numbers of shooters so much as falling numbers of reg sporting shoots. Today for instance, unless you fancy a 200+ mile round trip in 30+ degrees, there's the choice of Meadowcroft... or... Meadowcroft. And nothing local until...

Well shot Richie.  :clapping: You'll be in A class before you can say Caesar Guerini.

    Recoil problem

Americans have complained for years about heavy recoil with the F3 but I've shot several and never found it to be an issue, so even though you seem happy wit the fit, I suggest Ben's probably right about fit/mount. As for fibre shells, they have more propellant than plastic, all other things...

    Recoil problem

To start with tell us about the gun and where you get bruised. IMO your size and physique don't matter much. I'm pretty slim too but I've never suffered from bruising. This could be gun fit or gun weight or technique or a combination of issues and we can only offer things for you to try. By far...

    Unconvincing breaks

They were pellet strikes that didn't break the clay but dislodged the orange paint.  In this case the rabbits weren't a long way out but were fully airborne and looping & quartering away into the bushes. There was little to no margin of error if the shot wasn't  middled. After the shoot I...

    Unconvincing breaks

Will has it right and it's important for refs to understand this rule as well because many competitors don't... I remember a situation some years ago which caused a lot of grumbling. The target was an orange edgy rabbit clay, quartering away and in bright sunlight. Over and over there'd be a...

    Key safe

Well I still cannot fathom the logic that a key safe storing the keys to the gun safe is somehow more secure than just a gun safe, but I'll put it down to old age and move on.😁

    Key safe

Which is entirely fine. But, my view is slightly different in that there are very few, like virtually zero, burglars or opportunist thieves who would risk prison time by stealing guns and trying to flog them down the pub. It's the small number of career villains who go after guns and there's...
