Sporting shoots 2023. How was it?

That maybe the case for you AA superstars but to us lesser mortals they are mostly devilishly difficult &!@$%^* things that escape our best endeavours to hit, I jest of course or not in my experience

Sporting shoots 2023. How was it?

Thing is with ESP there are too many variables, if the entry itself is top heavy with AAA AA & A one would expect a high scoring shoot, these AAAs have to bang in 90+ and more just to be in class, and 95 and more to place, have a decent number of those and the plethora of 90s makes it look a...

Sporting shoots 2023. How was it?

Sam Usher has a 100 straight at Westfield, I do believe he’s the only one, and it was just a few months after his RU at BO 2021 and few before he won BO at Barbury in 2022, some shot this young man

Sporting shoots 2023. How was it?

Westfield is 15 crow miles from home, it was foul here all day which would have put a lot off, that said some shot both!

Sporting shoots 2023. How was it?

Coleys today, first of four monthly Saturday shoots running over the “Winter” for our 12.50 5 man squad luckily the wet stuff stopped as we were about to start, did return for the last 3/4 stands but only as drizzle, the place looked as if the earlier starts had a soaking. Was first up on St1...

    Tiptop RIP

Have the sad news to share with those of you that knew him that Martin Tipper aka Tiptop passed away yesterday 19th October after a long illness, lovely chap, had strong but fair opinions on shooting matters and he will be missed.

    If you were starting again,,,,,,

Not take an extended break after first started shooting however looking back, girls-girlfriend -wife-children-work-mortgages-financial crash(s)-cricket-rugby- grandchild have all been a welcome distraction etc, for me shooting needs to be a regular activity or you do lose a bit (or a lot) of an...

Shooting glasses for spec wearers ?

Ah I’ve not explained that / muppets usage very well, you are indeed correct variofocal lenses for shooting does not work at all. My prescription lenses are set for the distance setting only.

Who would you recommend and why ?

In defence of AGL today they were hosting the National InterCounties English Sporting, so may have been a bit / tad busy, there is also much to be said of dealing locally with such a major purchase

Shooting glasses for spec wearers ?

Am also a variofocal glasses wearer, it’s ridiculously expensive to have prescription lenses let alone same in multiple colours, if you want multiple colours then contact lenses & regular shooting glasses / colour options may be your only viable choice. In my own experience prescription lenses...

Who would you recommend and why ?

I have no experience of the first three on your list, Coleys which I’ve bought from previously has changed a lot in last few years, Barbury ( as mentioned by MrJonz ) I can recommend. Do ring in advance they are most accommodating with demo guns, very decent cafe too.

Sporting shoots 2023. How was it?

Coleys today, Ive not been out to a reg since last one here, late pm squad, thankfully missed the rain that dampened the place somewhat, was / felt cold in places but thankfully we were mostly basked in pleasant autumn sunshine. Squad of chums, when going out not many scores showing and...

Sporting shoots 2023. How was it?

Its the grounds error, they should be following the “rule” regarding such an event.

    Inaccurate score counts

Would imagine it’s human error entering data into score programme, easily done on a big day, and if required a query raised at ground or later with CPSA any error easily corrected too.

Sporting shoots 2023. How was it?

Another at Coleys, bit too hot in the open, thankfully the exposed refs had some shade. Shot 9/12 stands well enough, imploding on just three, didn’t seem to be as busy as previous shoots. Hgun Andy Moon 98 and he was chased to the end by a good many.

    British Open, Garlands

I must confess I didn’t watch the live feed, instagram I think, have watched a few ISSF Olympic Skeet you tube offerings, even with the flash clays it’s hardly compelling, english Sporting with the distances involved even a harder watch, shooting will I fear never be a spectator sport, and...

    British Open, Garlands

Ah, Im bad, apologies for my mid-reading, with this event being sold out within days the funds are all banked (all are competition entries) and the numbers in class will be known before event so it’s feasible that the prize list would have been available prior to day 1?
