    Elbar / El Chimbo

Eibar is a place . In Spain . It’s the sort of Spanish equivalent of Gardone in Italy an area where the gun making trade is concentrated . I’ve seen the name El Chimbo in the shooting magazines when I was a kid 50 years ago . I think they are at the cheap and cheerful end of the market .,A...

    Cone height

Whereabouts in the country are you ? Then someone on here could recommend someone to have a look at you . If by any chance you’re in the sort of Pennine region I’d recommend you go see Mike Meggison at Kelbrook

    Cone height

Before you go to the gunsmith Stiggers , just a word of caution , a good gunsmith or stocker isn’t the same as a gunfitter . What you need first is a session with someone who understands gunfit in a dynamic way , ie when you are mounting the gun and shooting targets . That person will then give...

    Adjustable Comb: Feels like home??

You’re right Freddie , if it breaks , it’s tough , about £1200 for a grade 5 Miroku , and many times more for the Krieghoff wood . However when I took the Krieghoff to Brian Webster he was working on guns worth six figures .

    Adjustable Comb: Feels like home??

Incorrect . Read above , I’ve had an adjustable Krieghoff stock bent . I’ve also had two non adjustable grade 5 Mirokus bent that have metal reinforcing tubes through the wrist . Adding cast , and lifting or dropping the comb height is done at wrist ( after temporarily removing the stock bolt...

    Adjustable Comb: Feels like home??

I have found that as I need 3/8 cast off, that the ‘ ledge’ on the gun stock could be quite uncomfortable on my face . I still use the adjustable element for the comb height , but I had the stock cast . Now that’s just a personal thing with a particular Krieghoff stock , so I’m not saying it’s...

    Ragley hall gamefair

Was that the Yorkshire fair at Doncaster racecourse ? I went last year to one there . I could have been forgiven for thinking I’d stumbled on a meeting of the British Badger Digging and Poaching Society . I felt out of place, probably one of a minority not in Camo with a straggly haired dog in...

    Noob Again - Lead

Just my uneducated two bobs worth . No one shoots with just one technique . I’ve got friends who say that they shoot method X , and it’s obvious watching them that they shoot a variety of methods as the target changes .

    Passive ear plug query

Sordin or Swatcom are first class and the importer Talking Headsets will repair / service them out of warranty for a very reasonable cost . So you can buy and plan on a long life . For gel seals for passive ear defenders look no further than eBay or AliExpress , they are pretty much universal...

    Kreighoff K80 Potential Purchase

I’ve got a 40 year old K80 with the Dural lightweight action . The barrel steel is Bohler antinit . It’s a quality that you will not get on bread and butter guns , you find it on the likes of Beretta SO . The bores of the gun are pristine . After shooting I just run a paradox cleaner( sheep...

Dickinson Hunter over under 28" 12ga

Looking at the website , it’s a cheap Turkish shotgun with a generic Italian style action , the barrels hinged on side trunnions . The equivalent in the U.K. and Europe is probably something like a Kofs or an ATA It doesn’t cost a whole lot of money . However It’s been made at a profit ...

Choices! New or SH Usual questions .

At £1500 the 682 should have been an immaculate ‘cabinet queen’ . That hadn’t seen the light of day for 20 years ! I paid £1350 brand spanking new when they were the gun of the day !

Choices! New or SH Usual questions .

682 Gold . Proper gun . Never been bettered in its class despite all the model ‘upgrades’

    Aftermarket pads for adjustable stock

The comb on the K80 above has the adjustment where it should be , accessed by removing the comb . The drilled hole is simply for taking the stock off with the pad in place, Krieghoff sensibly use an Allen head stock screw so the stock key just passes through the drilled hole .

    Oxford Gun Company Issue

I can understand your anger OP but in reality it’s two separate transactions . Gun storage around here is around £5 a week depending on the provider so the £330 is top end but presumably you knew the rate before asking them to store it ? I agree that £660 is having a laugh . The commission at...

    Beretta 694 Problem

Just my humble opinion on 694s. Beretta guns in the mid range deteriorated after the 682 Gold ( not the Gold E ) the last gun in its price range that saw the competition department I do believe . There is a very interesting article in The Field this month , Mike Yardley reviewing a MK38 Gd3...

    budget starter gun

What’s your budget is the obvious question ? And what are his aspirations ? There is quite a strong case for buying a brand new ATA sporter if he’s just an occasional shooter it’s a Turkish clone of the Beretta 686 . . Sure you’ll loose 60 to 80% of the value if you trade it on something...

    Just started my journey

You need to be shown the ropes by an experienced pigeon shooter , a lot will be very protective of their shooting permissions . One way into the inner circle is to become a beater on a local shoot . Get yourself known , most of the beaters and dog guys will be in a network of like minded...

    Shooting glasses

. Any polycarbonate lens is going to be a useful protection against clay fragments or a 40 yard pellet . A CE certified lens isn’t going to be much use against being shot in the head with a 12 gauge . Make your own minds up The risk is the probability of occurrence weighted against...

    Aftermarket pads for adjustable stock

Snap . I’ve got a drilled hole through a Kickeeze in the back of my Krieghoff . I got 15 years plus no issue from the first Kickeeze on that gun before I changed it because it was going sticky . I do store all my guns muzzle down though , which I think helps avoid compression set of the rubber...
