20 gauge - 7.5 or 8 shot? for my daughter

My Grandaughters were shooting a Beretta 303 12 bore from aged 13 upwards. That gun weighs a touch over 7lbs. and with 24 gram 8's and 1/4 choke will break anything on an average Sporting layout. A 28" barrel 'game' model 12 bore is not going to be any heavier than an average 20 bore O/U...

    Time for a treat

Buy a Beretta 303, a cracking pigeon gun. Easy to clean and maintain and will leave you enough money for a couple of thousand cartridges too.

    Time for a treat

Perhaps I can chuck in my 60 years of experience here, possibly saving you some money and CERTAINLY a lof of heartache. I have been down the road of 'I must have a head turning gun' ! I did the Beretta SO 5, Perazzi 2000s, EELL thing, usually costing me a fair bit of money between each...

    Pilla prescription inserts

I just couldn't live with contact lenses. I tried them for over12 months. However, when one was 'blown' out when I was out on the marsh, with no way of cleaning it or putting it back, having eventually found it. That was enough.

    Pilla prescription inserts

At least YOU can not see what is going on ! 😂 Actually what was far worse, was a detached retina that I suffered a few years ago. The surgery on that was the most uncomfortable experience that I have ever endured. It was horrible. However, I did manage to lighten the mood in the recovery...

Checklist buying a second hand gun

Some of the Beretta or Remington semi autos can have differing numbers on the receiver and barrels. I have just sold such a weapon. It was a Beretta 300 which had a more sought after, Beretta 303 multi choked barrel fitted. The best advice when buying a used gun is to try and get someone more...

Yes Yes, so am I. I do have 1000 fibre, but have not tried them yet.

Nearest current cart to Blue Diamonds?

Will, I did a direct comparison with the Gamebore and the F Blues only yesterday. My gun weighs exactly 8lbs. and for me the Gamebore had less 'thump' than the Fiocchi. Both are from the same cartridge supplier and both are stored in the same room/environment, so I can not see any influencing...

    Most certainly the Gamebore.

I have bought 2000 of the Gamebore '50' celebratory cartridges. I don't know what they are a derivative of, but I have found them lovely to shoot. With one of those and an F Blue in the other barrel, there is a marked difference in perceived recoil, but the kills are equal.

    Stippling on a stock.

I would get some estimates for having the gun chequered correctly, unless you particularly want 'stippling'. It may not be as expensive as you think.

Should a pair of brand new Briley Chokes look like this?

I have used Briley chokes for many years, in fact there are 2 flush chokes in my 30 years old Classic Doubles now. I have NEVER had an issue, but I am not an Engineer and probably would not be examining them as closely as you are. If you bought the chokes new, then I would suggest you return...

Try phoning Bamfords of Eccleston or Malmo Guns, they have been very helpful to me in the past

    ASE Gold Refurb

I have seen guns done with gold inlay at Wisemans of Cannock. I'm not sure if they still do inlaying work, but they were doing Browning A1's at one time. Worth a phone call.

Another price increase for cartridges at end of January

Just going back to the recoil issue, I spent 17 years running a shooting ground. This involved usually 2 people, running a 'line' on DTL and Compak. One buttoned and one scored. When buttoning I often watched the Shooter and NOT the target. Regardless of gunfit, a standard 12 bore cartridge...

    Newcomers to our sport.

I am looking forward to it. I shall no doubt upset a few when I turn up with a group on a 'hen party' 😂
