Which surely renders the key safe pointless - or am I missing something?

    Key safe

Why have a key safe? Seems highly insecure to me as all the bad guys have to do is take your key safe out to their van, cut it open and bingo! they can get at the guns. I've always thought hiding the keys is the best plan as surely no thief wants to to waste time searching. Just pick somewhere...

Sporting shoots. Your personal accounts. 2022

Another superb result for Cheryl too! Great to see her back where she belongs.

Sounds like you're enjoying your shooting again Sian. Sounds like Tony needs his back rubbed!

Sporting shoots. Your personal accounts. 2022

Thanks Team. I'm half way through now, 3 rounds down and 3 to go. My last infusion of poison is due for Aug 19th. It takes roughly 6 more weeks to clear to the resumption of normal life and another month or so to be fully back.  By and large I'm carrying on ordinary life. as I'm not ill with...

Sporting shoots. Your personal accounts. 2022

Hi Donna. Always nice to put a face to a name and of course Phil as he gets mentioned on here too. As for the shoot I thought it was a pretty good course but truth to tell I wasn't really firing on all cylinders, much like last time out.  I think I'll probably quit registered until September...

Sporting shoots. Your personal accounts. 2022

Same thinking here - or it was until last night when the wife went down with sickness and diarrhoea. I'm okay but the trouble is I'm in the middle of a course of chemo and vulnerable to infections as my immune system is compromised - or so I'm told - so I can't risk being away from home for any...

    Shoe Advice

It does depend on where you'll be shooting. Some grounds like Ian Coley's have proper pathways so you can wear any shoes that take your fancy. Not naming names but some popular grounds are rather more (cough) rural and can be sticky under the trees for some days after the rain stops. Nothing...

Sporting shoots. Your personal accounts. 2022

I didn't think Westfield was especially tough. It was for me because, thanks to ongoing medical treatment, my energy level is low and after about 6 reasonable stands things went weird. Typical was the straightforward driven report pair (Sian and Tony were just behind) where I smashed the first...

    Lord Pewsey RIP

Yes it's very sad to lose one of the good people. It must be 5 or 6 years since he was a regular around the west country, but I'll always remember him as a friendly, talkative and honest competitor. A real character who enjoyed his shooting and the company of shooters.

    English Open week.

When I was reffing I had the pleasure of witnessed Paul in action on a fair number of occasions. He's a top flight shot and I agree with Jasper that he's a worthy winner. The only thing that surprises me is that he hasn't won more big events.

    Falling numbers of shooters.

This new era of working from home has done wonders for mid week shoot attendances. 🤣

Are you shooting the EO or just trying to score points off me?

Sarcasm isn't really helpful. So, for the smartarses, I was asking the forum members.

Anyone going this time or is High Lodge just too far away for us of the Sunday registered mob?

    First Gun Budget.

Like Daz says, don't expect to just go out and buy a gun for the long term. No one ever gets away with that and It's 10:1 you'll be looking for a change within 12-18 months. A good used mid range gun from any of the big names will serve you well whilst you get up to speed and start figuring out...

You're probably right. I know pretty well zero about trap and skeet.

You can see the bore centre is in a straight line back to the shoulder thus no muzzle flip. You can also see that his eye/rib relationship is pretty normal. I realise it's not an OT gun but there was a French competitor at the Olympics with a similar set up on an O/U.

This is one of shooting's myths. When I last changed guns at the height of the last raised rib craze and still reffing sporting shoots I was able to try numerous guns and in virtually every configuration on the market. At no point did I find my head more upright as they were all set to shoot...

    Misfire misery

Sounds like faulty loads to my engineer's mind but having said that, some shells definitely seem to like some guns more than others. I shot a lot of Hull 10-15 years ago when I could get a good deal for the club and never saw a single fail to fire other than dreaded Miroku/Browning firing pin...
