    Proofed for steel?

I am  not making it complicated I am simply stating you can shoot standard steel through any choke in your gun which is making it easier for UK shooters. Whilst  you are correct that it doesn't increase the chamber pressure it can and DOES increase the service pressure measured in the barrel...

    Proofed for steel?

I have shot 28g steel for sporting clays and while I prefer lead I was surprised at its ability. A friend of mine shoots the Dutch Dorhout Mees GP a FITASC sporting meet nearly every year and as lead is banned in Holland it's all steel. He doesn't have a problem with the use of steel and seeing...

    Proofed for steel?

BASC has a good leaflet on the subject https://basc.org.uk/wp-content/plugins/download-monitor/download.php?id=723 "There are two types of steel shot cartridges: Standard Steel and High Performance Steel (See table below for criteria). Standard Steel cartridges can be fired through any gun...

    Proofed for steel?

In Europe it is different to the USA, chokes do not matter on standard steel shot regarding safety, the cartridges have a lower service pressure than the equivalent lead both here and over in the USA. It is taken into consideration that full choke with a steep angle could be in one of the...

    Proofed for steel?

CIP standard steel shot can be shot through any nitro proofed gun and any choke, you might in some cases get excessive wear on some very old guns but it is designed to be backward compatible with all Nirto proofed guns fixed full choke included. It is limited in burst pressure, working pressure...

    Which barrel first?

The convention is bottom barrel first as it's lower and more inline with the shoulder so theoretically less muzzle flip and quicker target  accusation when taking the 2nd shot. I can't say I have noticed the difference in flip but the above is often sited as the main reason to shoot bottom...

Only ever shot the registerd shoots, they are good testing shoots.

    687 fault

I have seen the selector migrate over to the mid point and lock the trigger on my friends 682 gold E numerous times.

    Multichokes

I use 3/8 & 3/8 or when I want to be down with the kool kids 1/2 & 1/2  for sporting on all targets except rabbits and low driven. A rabbit can conceivably jump over a tight pattern just as you take the shot and is out of your control. On low driven my ineptitude can drag the gun off...

Can a ground photo copy your shotgun certificate?

That’s not what is written in their current terms and conditions. It only stipulates the actual proof of the certificate is a ‘may be’ and ‘from time to time’. Also they state ‘Anyone can sign for your delivery and it can be sent to any address.’ When I used them or anyone else I know has used...

Can a ground photo copy your shotgun certificate?

It is the same as a car hire company or employer photocopying your driving licence so not illegal. They have to keep it securely and only use it for the purposes for which it was initially obtained i.e. buying cartridges from them. Just cartridges spent a fair bit of time and money on legal...

    sporting fixed choke

That's a debate that will go on forever, I suspect a lot of us that have shot sporting for any length of time have played about with chokes.  I will stick a cylinder choke in for a rabbit because it could conceivably jump over a tighter chokes pattern. I will also open up on low driven as I can...

    sporting in Lancashire

I shot all the registered shoots at Blackpool last year but when I go on to the fixtures or find a club on the CPSA website it is no longer listed as a ground.  That was the only reason I didn't know if they were continuing or not.

    sporting fixed choke

I use Italian 8.5 which is 2.2 mm equivalent to English 8 for all my ESP. You cannot use English 5 in registered shoots it's  2.6mm max which is an English 6.  The biggest I have used is English 7 and never felt the need to go any higher.

I was a member at worsley but no longer as  they went fibre wads only and stopped holding registered comps , the last registered shoot was also in 2013.

    sporting in Lancashire

Yes I have shot Coniston in the past both for practice, registered ESP and FITASC. Lovely ground great facilities with some very good targets.   Unfortunately there was a bit of an issue over a selection shoot a few years back. Some shooters rightly or wrongly decided the shoot was too hard...

    sporting in Lancashire

You will struggle to find a registered ESP shoot in Lancashire, a few places do practice and members competitions but not registered.  Blackpool sporting clays  Back Lane Greenhalgh Kirkham Preston PR4 3HP Last year did registered and practice but I am not too sure if they are holding anymore...

    European Union

It is very naive to think Mr Salmond didn't openly tap into the strong anti English vote that exists in some parts of Scotland, just as the pro leaving Europe  are trying to tap into the anti Muslim /  immigrant vote that exist in parts of the UK. You call the critics of one stance tender...

    European Union

jwpzx9r I find your stance a little confusing, of course England is going to decide as that is where the greatest number of voters reside and have the ability to out vote  the other countries of the U.K.,  however the vote is going to be the UK as a whole 1 vote per person.    The main...

Why on earth are chokes so expensive?

The same reason ASDA's own jeans are £12 and Diesel jeans are £90 it is what they can get away with. The cheapest choke manufacturer I have seen is http://www.shotgunchokes.co.uk/shop/index.php?catname=Individual-Chokes&id=345 no idea on quality or if they are any good.
