    Bisley - Long Siberia

Squeezed in a session to let off a little steam there yesterday taking advantage of the 5pm finish - helps me appreciate my progress as I shot here when starting out last year and would miss loads. Now I'm disappointed to drop a couple over the entire ground - yes I know, not the most...

Look forward to this tomorrow - suppose the long stuff (otherwise known as my current dire weakness) will be out in force 🤞

What did you do today that’s shooting related?

Decided that I don’t much fancy my full time job anymore and I’m going to retire at 30 and shoot every day until the cash runs out. So effectively until next weekend.

Despite having a poor time today with the stuff at range, I’d like to say the shoot itself was really good. Steve, the location is quite stunning and I think you did a solid job putting on different targets. Will certainly be back. 👍

Sporting Shoots; where- and how was it? (2018)

Willinghurst today - I was found out big time. I effectively struggle with any and everything at range - particularly crossers. Practice hours needed focusing on reading lead required I think. A sad 62.

AGL for me too - first time. Scored 80 a personal  best, yes not the hardest shoot but for a newbie like me stand 3 (scored 2/8) was a challenge. Then singles dropped everywhere else, I seem to have developed a habit of nailing 7 then missing the final one. There will be big scores going in...

What did you do today that’s shooting related?

Ordered my new Castellani Rio vest - will be my first ‘proper’ non hand me down vest. Sorry to say (I know some of you don’t like it) I’ve also joined the embroidered name club! 😃

Dartford done - 76. Nice ground actually so much here.

Sporting Shoots; where- and how was it? (2018)

70 at Horne, feel I lost a good 8-10 across the first 3 stands. I definitely need to “warm up” which is what I did last week at my local club before shooting the reg - and winning the class. Think I’ll be a pool shoot chap from now on.  Just arrived at Dartford for second shoot, never been...

    STARTING COMPETITION CLAY SHOOTING

I did the same.  @Colin C whereabouts are you? Can be good idea to tag along with another shooter for registered whilst you get used to it - I personally did this (thanks @Will Hewland) and it helped a lot.

This sounds extremely poor. But Will, on the plus side does this now make you the new bad boy of shooting? 😎

74 won it - I’m quite chuffed.  Picked up a gun for the first time 8/9 months ago, and my form (predictably) jumps around a bit so I feel this’ll be a good platform to kick on with some consistency and confidence!

I just finished at court Farm. 74. The sun and wind were both coming and going but it was ultimately a nice shoot (I’ve really missed it with the weather). 74 was C class HG at the time I finished so fingers crossed it’ll be my first ever.

Recommendations for taking varnish to oil finish

Hi chaps, Been covered before but prefer to get any up to date/recent recommendations of where to have my varnish finish MK38 stripped and finished with oil? Preferably in the south east. Also any idea of cost and return time would be helpful.  Cheers.

+1 for weekend move. Already too many shoots mid week which I can’t attend due to work.  Shame as this is on the doorstep.

    CPSA/ SCTA

Different governing body and if you wish to shoot in Scotland reg you’ll need to join SCTA is my understanding.

Snap, Will.  I shot yesterday up at Kibworth so my shooting bug may hold off until tomorrow... although that doesn’t look too promising either.  As you say if afternoon perks up I’ll get over to Owls.

Yup I shot Horne too in the wind and rain - not fun. Hopefully better conditions this week.
