Just looked at JustCartridges, I can buy my preferred cartridges cheaper per 1,000 locally and you dont have to wait in for the delivery, just pop into my local gun shop when passing.
I carried a copy of the certificate and a copy of my address change notification form. And it is registered on the PNC so I was legally holding a certificate.
I was not concerned. Only possible worry was running out of carts but I had bought a 3 month supply just in case
I now live in Sussex and moved from Kent last year.
I followed the above process, I had a security visit and they took my certificate. I received the new certificate 1 week later.
I had previously bought a stockpile of cartridges.....just in case.
The process worked very well for me.
IMHO there are semi autos that are great guns but not necessarily for you! I have owned Remy 1100 and 1187 heavy guns with very little recoil but I got really fed up with cleaning them, very dirty gas guns. Then I bought a Beretta 391 which is also a great gun...but not for me, it fitted had...
Perhaps a friendly and polite call to them might help.
I had a delay on my initial application, it was delayed due to a death in the police dept. Things got moving quickly after the call.

The 690 might be the 1st but I bet you will look at more o/u's and consider a trap gun as well as a skeet gun, a semi auto, SxS and a pump as well to make sure you have all the bases covered.
Then you might think about a game gun and maybe a lighter walk up gun.
