    Practice with tighter chokes?

Tomorrow I am going for a practice and decided to start with chokes 1 step up to 1/2 and 3/4 to see what happens and a round of skeet with 1/4 and 1/4. Not much of a step up but it should be interesting

    Practice with tighter chokes?

I was think the same yesterday - should I practice with tighter chokes to try and assess whether over leading/behind or just plain rubbish 😐

    24gram shells

Most places I shoot require fibre now so I only buy fibre. I like the performance of Hull Intercomp HV 24g fibre. 8's if I can get them otherwise 7.5's.

Best semi auto for sporting clays

I did have a 2nd hand B391 a few years back and couldn't hit a barn door with it, no idea why and my gun-fit was checked twice. Sold it and bought the Franchi. The Franchi is very good but very light and very whippy. My pondering continues.......

Best semi auto for sporting clays

Interesting responses.  I have a Franchi which is not a dedicated sporting clay gun and I am considering changing it to something specifically designed for clays. Beretta and Browning seem top so far followed by Benelli.

As the title suggests. For sporting and skeet which semi auto is best from your experiences. Thanks

    Shotgun Balance

Went for a practice shoot today and immediately felt that the 3oz in the stock have made a difference. The gun moves better and the barrels no longer feel front heavy. The balance now feels between the hands and more fluid. Thanks and I am very grateful for all the advice.

    Shotgun Balance

Surprising revelation, my standard mount is with my left hand 1/2 way along the forend, this I found puts the point of balance further back from the hinge pin. A strip of masking tape and a pencil kindly wielded by my wife put the halfway point between my hands at 1 1/4 inches back from the...

    Shotgun Balance

I took out the extended Teague chokes and put in the Browning flush chokes and although there is a very slight difference in feel it is pretty small. I didn't have time to add weight to the stock so that will be my next review. The provided flush chokes are skeet and full so still not sure I...

    Shotgun Balance

Interesting about choke weight, mine is the Teague Sporter which came with extended steel chokes. It came with a couple of flush fit Std Browning chokes as well. I'll test the feel without chokes and then fit the flush chokes. Not sure I want to do a round with them though as I think they are...

    Shotgun Balance

Quick question: My MK38 balances at the front of the action where it breaks open. I am finding that I have to positively 'push' the gun on crossers. I would like to make the gun swing easier with a perceived more fluid action.  If I add 2 or 3 oz's into the stock bolt hole will that achieve...

That journey is still ongoing and looks to be a very long one !

    Back up gun?

Hmmm, reading these last posts makes me wonder whether I should keep the Franchi then. It's more nose heavy than the very well balanced MK38 so I suppose I could add some weight into the stock and see how that works but am I then trying to recreate a MK38 feeling that would then negate the...
