    Back up gun?

Not decided yet, had it from 2017 and it is in excellent condition.  I need to look at similar ones for sale and gauge the market value.

    Back up gun?

I only shoot sporting disciplines with my Miroku MK38 but in the past when the weather has been vile I have shot my Franchi Affinity as it is pretty weatherproof. Call me a softy but in the past I have worried about the MK38 G5 wood getting wet. I hardly shoot the Franchi any more as I have...

Is your gun a tool or something you worry will get damaged?

It good to here there are people so skilled in their chosen jobs/career/vocation. You hear so many that'll do jobs now days, it's great to hear feedback on someone that has pride in their work and delivering an excellent result. I wish I had not sold my MK60, but my GD5 MK38 is a lovely...

Is your gun a tool or something you worry will get damaged?

today I shot what a friend calls my black plastic monstrosity, my back up gun, a Franchi Affinity. I have a bunch of friends that shoot walk-up, formal game shoots, straw bailers, reg shoots etc and all enjoy themselves and between them they have a huge variety of guns whether SXS, O/U, semi...

I noticed a lot of clay shooting pages on Facebook.

I still consider myself a new shooter but this forum has always given me good advice and encouragement. Hamid also gave me some very sage advice. Still loads to learn and fun to have.

So which will you get a wooden or composite stock?

Is your gun a tool or something you worry will get damaged?

A genuine patina from use and good maintenance is all I ask.  If there is an accidental incident which is repaired then I am fine with that. To respond to Bavarian, I agree re the tools, I keep mine in good order and serviced as needed. The gun is similar. It annoys me when I see people...

Is your gun a tool or something you worry will get damaged?

I was talking to a reputable gun dealer earlier who says he considers guns as tools and I shouldn't worry about getting it wet or the odd knock. Use it and enjoy it. I do subscribe to the above but I bought a G5 MK38 rather than a G1 as I like the engravings and the better quality wood and as...

    Loud or soft??

I'd never have thought about that, just moving your lower jaw can affect the mount. Just shows that every day is a school day 👍

Are most guns over choked for sporting clays?

If you used 2 chokes only which ones would you recommend? or do you recommend changing chokes relevant for each stand? Thanks

    Opaque patch for shooting glasses

@EdLyons An update: I bought some Shotspot patches to see whether they were an improvement on my somewhat amateur approach. When looking out of my left eye my original masking tape patch covered the end of the barrel with a solid patch whereas the Shotspot is a disc that just blurs the area...

    |Slip on stock pad

Point taken and thanks for your advice. I'm 6'2" long arms, 46 chest.   I'm right down on the south coast not far from Bexhill/Hastings.  I'll try and find someone qualified to advise on fit and stance.  Many thanks

    |Slip on stock pad

My scores dropped with the standard stock on the MK38, went back up again to my average with the temp extension pad. The local club instructor checked my fit and also suggested at least another 1/2inch to a minimum of my 15 1/2.  Before I have the stock professionally altered I will have an...

    |Slip on stock pad

Following the blacking falling off my B725 I bought a Miroku MK38 G5 sporter which I am really enjoying.   The grip and stock dimensions are slightly different and I am using a Beartooth slip on stock extender while I assess which length spacer to add. The Beartooth does not fit the stock very...

    Opaque patch for shooting glasses

I have always had very independent vision in my eyes and have struggled lately with my left eye trying to take over particularly with left to right crossers. I have resorted to cutting an approx 10mm bit of masking tape and putting on the in side of my left lens to obscure only the end of the...

    opinions on Brownings laminated stocks

I have shot 525SL quite a lot and think it's a cracking gun.  Nearly bought one. Then I picked up a Miroku MK38 grade 5 sporter which felt very similar and decided I couldn't quite live with the laminate, call me old school but it is a very very pretty gun to boot !

    Gun reviews on youtube

Thanks for all the reviews, very worthwhile watching I was thinking hard about the 525 SL but was not sure about how tough the laminate would be for dings and scratches.  I've already seen one quite new SL with scratches on the stock.  Although a very good gun I decided not to buy one in the...
