    Beretta 694 choosing nice wood

when I bought my 692 a few years back I'm not sure that it had anything on it, the wood was pale which I quite liked but eventually gave it a couple of coats of this stuff which worked well, the wood darkened a little after application and took on a soft sheen

Well Richard, you didn't do so badly, the average was 68 and there were 21 in your class

More misses than an unmarried womens convention

Yes there's a fast L to R crosser at Hangman's stone which fills me with dread. I expect to miss it so I do. If it was in a different site I would probably do better.

More misses than an unmarried womens convention

it would probably be easy to miss above a target quartering inward, if you are confident you have the right line it's just a question of getting the lead right. As has been said by the Great George if you are missing; double the lead, if you are still missing aim at it. Methinks slightly over...

    Barrels dropping

Hello Dave, as I was reading that I was thinking "trigger snatching" as it's a common fault in the rifle/pistol shooting fraternity. I don't think it's as common with us clay shooters but someone out there should be able to advise

    only shoot 1/2 & 3/4

there is a school of thought that states that practicing with tight chokes improves your aim and I can see how that might work, however, when shooting a competition you want the most open chokes you can get away with, any tighter and you are making your pattern diameter unnecessarily tight. Just...

    Beretta 694 choosing nice wood

I thought the 692/4 wood was only grade 2 where grade 1 is like a table leg and grade 5 is the tops so you can't expect too much of it

It's one way to invalidate your warranty I suppose :)

    Beretta 694 choosing nice wood

Fair enough, but if it is important you need to be happy with your purchase. You might find a gunsmiths with two or three in stock that you can choose from, you might have to be prepared to travel until you find a gun with wood that scratches that itch.

    How to get better?

I did suffer with the plateau and I burned out and gave it up while my kids were growing up, using that as an excuse. I started again in a small way, I remembered why I started shooting in the first place and that was because I found shooting to be fun, I was always messing around with air guns...

    How to get better?

just get a lot of practise and try to put all the good advice into effect, it's taken me about 53 years so far and I'm not where I want to be yet. You are at a great time in your shooting career because you should see a steady improvement for some years yet and that's a great feeling. When you...

    Winchester 101XTR Ejector timing

No Westley, there didn't seem to be a simple solution so I'm still using it as is, the problem is not yet severe, lets say noticeable but manageable. This is just an old gun that I bought about 38 years ago, it only comes out of the cabinet a couple of times a year and then mostly for other...

    Chokes

No, they don't. I am on my second Beretta and the chokes on both worked loose after a few shots hence the use of grease. If you look at the threads you will see that they are not standard thread forms and this could be why they come loose

CPSA Registration What next ? What to Expect ?

Yup, just ask to shoot birds only to avoid the £5.00 comp charge, your scores still count towards your classification and will show on the CPSA site. I still do "birds only" most of the time, bloody annoying if you win your class though!
