Peejay, they are doing it for demonstration purposes, when you are in a competition you will load both barrels. if you are practising singles you can load both barrels if you like as long as your gun is unloaded before you turn and leave the stand.

I agree, at this stage it won't matter what cartridges you use so you might as well use the cheapest you can get your hands on. Your misses will have very little to do with the ammo you are using. As you get better and more experienced you will probably gravitate toward a particular cartridge...
