    Ported Chokes?

I once had a Beretta 687 ported by Gunmark , they offered that service 35 years ago . It did nothing other than make the gun noisier and harder to clean . 30 years ago I went through a period of buying Rhino ported chokes , just a PITA to clean . I’ve still got some k80 Rhinos that came with...

Cartridge price increases now getting silly

Mid year and ‘ Guns on Pegs ‘ are still advertising available syndicate places . There are also bought days still free , a couple of years back that would have been a different story . A shoot we’ve been buying days on for the last 5 years sold out in January this year , then contacted all...

    Total Noob 1st Gun

just a note if the OP is still reading . If you are looking at spending up to £7000 on a second hand gun ask yourself one question - “ why is it on the rack ? “ . Of course some will be there because a wealthy shooter trading up , but I’d bet most are there because the owner didn’t get along...

Bend it or make it adjustable?

It depends on how much cast you need and how thick the comb is on your Browning . I’ve even got one gun with a factory adjustable comb that I’ve had cast , as with the ( thick ) adjustable comb offset to where I need it there was a ‘ ledge ‘ with an uncomfortable feel , so I used bend for cast...

Cartridge price increases now getting silly

I wouldn’t put too much faith into the slab label , they’ll be printed onsite at end of line with the batch info and someone has probably just tabbed to a standard weight on the PC programme . Increasing a slab by a physical 1kg would increase shipping costs by 9 or 10% .

    For Sale Hushpower .410 ( Folding / Moderated ) for sale .

A Pedretti folding .410 HUSHPOWER by Gunsport. Stock finished with a Pachmayer pad to give a proper 14 3/4 LOP , stock oiled , 26” full length moderator . Very quiet with short subsonic but is chambered for 3” if you need a bit of wallop . Moderator sleeve a bit scruffy , but overall good...

    Recoil problem

However did Lord Walshingham bag 1070 grouse in a day ( with 32 gms quad gunning with six and a quarter pound side by sides ) without resorting to recoil reducers ….. perhaps his guns were fitted

    Steel Proof?

Here’s my two bobs worth …. Until recently all Miroku trap guns were fixed choke 3/4 and Full , they had a sticker on the barrels that said Lead Shot Only . The sensible thing to do would be to get it converted to multichoke . Probably cost around £650-£800 depending how many tubes you need...

    Beretta 686 barrel problem

Phone up some proper working gunsmiths , Elderkins , Midland Gun , Wiseman’s etc . The barrels are probably hard soldered into the block , so taking them out probably means that the top and side ribs need relaying as well . The gun will also need re-proofing . After all that you’re...

    Browning 2000

I doubt one has ever been made . They were a niche , premium gas auto  , all steel gun with walnut stocks My best mate has one . It would be sacrilege to put a plastic stock on one🤣 . If it’s for ducks on the salt just buy a cheap plastic  Mossberg or Turkish auto .  If anybody ever did one...

    Metal work cleaning

It’s highly unlikely that a lightly used B25 would be put away wet . If it was you’d have serious rust on the blue parts , it would happen very quickly I’ve seen a Belgian built B2000 go from mint to buggered in a week . It could be oil that’s dried to a lacquer , it could be fingerprinting...

    GearMate Alcester

Long story short , 40 years ago I bought a Hilux . I always liked it , it was the Top Gear spec , used it to facilitate renovations on  a big old Yorkshire farmhouse down a track on a hillside . The Last 6 years have been a whirlwind for me  , retired at 60 , widowed , covid , downsized...

Shotgun certificate renewal ( photos )

The downside to the online photo and laser printing the certificate is that they are crap documents .  I have a double sided  leather certificate holder one Side SGC one side FAC.  The police crest ,  half the photo image and some of the text is now firmly stuck to the clear plastic in the...

    How much !

If I may ask , where has the sum of £500 come from . Is there any validity  to it ( ie  CPSA  , BASC , NGO etc ) or is it a ‘ bloke at the club said ‘ sort of thing ?

    Guidance please

I retired early at 60 ,  I bought and Teagued up two Mirokus to take into retirement , had them gun fitted to suit , and retired my k80 to the cupboard .  I bought the GD5 38 trap gun at 32” . The  GD5 20 gauge at 30” .  I’m 68 in a few months and I’m just starting to think , over the last 12...

Northern Shooting Show, 6th & 7th of May.

I wanted to go on the 6th …. I figured it might be an easy day with others pre-occupied. However I’m the only ‘couldn’t care less about the Coronation’  in the group so it looks like Sunday*  . To be honest , if it wasn’t for the BASC free entry , I wouldn’t bother with the show , too much trash...
