    Trigger adjustment

As to gloves, I have a pair of soft fingerless leather for taking the dogs for a walk (and picking up after) and in my shooting bag a pair of Karrimor running gloves, soft silky and plenty of feel. Wet ot dry they're the same. Taped over my finger again and shot a 50 bird without trigger/finger...

    1st Compak

Yes same place. I was giving up to 5 foot on the cherry picker, obviously way under now you say that. I started with about a barrel and worked up to 5 foot. Maybe I should have kept going. Hard when you can't see the shot and there's no result. It was easier for me on sporting as I could stand...

    1st Compak

There was no one on compak all day, so I thought I'd have a go. Maybe it's not popular at Pinewood but all the other stands had queues except that. If I had been learning from my experience rather than "playing" I might have had a few more rounds. I couldn't work out my misses so went back to...

    Sheffield, heads up:

I used to get 1d, one penny in old money for each complete clay I picked up from Fox House and a half pint of Mansfield bitter from the guy who ran it. I can't remember his name. It might have been Ray but I think it might have been Ken who paid me. I used to beat on just about all the driven...

In the summer they now do Thursday nights I believe. Come summer now I'm retired I'll be popping up. Yes Arthur Turners on West Bar, demolished now for office blocks I think. I had my first gun an air rifle from there. Would have been around 69ish. (I still have it, but it's not in the greatest...

    1st Compak

Tried Compak today first time, 2 levels, hard and harder.  Enjoyed it, 12 first go, without seeing any birds first or watching anyone else. Tried the harder one, now that was a test, midis, very high, very fast, 10 shots, 10 misses. Pointless throwing lead away as I couldn't work out why I...

    Trigger adjustment

I managed to get some lead in the air today at Pinewood, 425 cartridges to be exact. I'm not a lover of gloves and like to keep things simple so put a bit of surgical tape on my finger joint.  No problems, fingers intact. So I'll try a different trigger, one that's not knurled. 👍

It's definitely open. Run by Howard now. It's owned by All Guns Discounted, which used to be Arthur Turners Gunsmiths that was. If you do Facebook they have a page and update it regularly. My wife or son keep an eye on it for me. It's open this Sunday but due to a lack of traps I believe it's...

    Waterproof shooting jacket

I'm terribly old fashioned and as such still wear wax. Never let's me down. In comparison to new fabrics its outrageously cheap given its life span.

    Full choke

I only took a screenshot so I'd have some references as to what sizes. On good advice I picked a pair, screwed them in and with the exception of cleaning just forget them. This is another comparing UK to USA, as my chokes are in USA sizing.

Sporting Shoots; where- and how was it? (2018)

When I told my RFD where I was shooting, now I understand the comment he made "You'll learn a lot about shooting there".  I didn't find the shoot particularly hard, but not easy either. Certainly within my current ability. Thinking back there was nothing that was a real challenge and at my...

    Full choke

Somewhere I'm sure there's a thread explaining how to fire at a pattern plate to check over given distances. But as Wonko said, stop worrying about chokes. Here's a chart you may find useful if you're into that sort of thing. I'd rather just fire it.

    Trigger adjustment

I need my fingers not to be sore or broken skin after firing tis all Sir. I have a lot of numbness in my hands (and feet) I'm also a  diabetic on insulin and broken skin can quickly lead to infection and unfortunately in some cases amputation. I think you may agree the loss of my trigger finger...

    Trigger adjustment

I think glove wise I'm a 10, but thanks anyway. I just stuff handwarmers in my pockets and hold them. The only real cold I feel is in my thumb which gets quite painful. Occasionally I'll wear finger less leather wheelchair type gloves which help with grip a bit as my hands are caloused from...

Sporting Shoots; where- and how was it? (2018)

My first ever competitive shoot today, an invite to a members only club. 75 sport. Maybe I should have asked about the rules first but I thought if I watched I'd learn. Generally I'm a quick learner.  As a new gun I was up to shoot first, so no watchee - learnee! Stepped into the cage and...

    Trigger adjustment

So to update, I fired a 75 bird today and skinned my finger.  I'm guessing here but, everyone else seems to have a smooth trigger so it might be the knurling.  I can't feel any sharp edges but I do suffer some numbness in my fingers since I had a stroke. The problem is when I'm out, as soon...

    air ventura

They do look interesting, I wonder how many shots between charges? When they or if they hit this country, I guess they'll be FAC section 1.

    Service

Very rusty or soggy wood. Until recently I thought it normal to remove the stock for a full clean. It's only since I've become a regular at my RFD that I realised that it's quite rare. If you're worried about using a long screwdriver as the bolt can be really tight (overtight if it's never...
