    Warts 'n' all

What a fantastic training aid, but pricey for what it is.  Think if I had one, it would get used for a day, then lie at the back of the cupboard for six months.  If anyone has one not being used, I'd love to rent it from you, with a full value deposit provided.  Once this covid thing is over...

Adjustable comb, fashion or real benefit

In pistol shooting,  all focus and concentration is on the front sight.  The target is fuzzy and not moving, so you have no need to look at it.  This is the most difficult thing, looking at the sights, especially under pressure.  So a lot of my work in recent years has been forcing my right eye...

    Just a Quickie

What I am struggling with is what happens next.  We don't just damp the virus down for a few months then return to normal.  Let's say a country has a population of 50 million, 10% get the disease (5 million), 1% of them die (50,000).  If we then lift restriction and the virus has not been...

Adjustable comb, fashion or real benefit

Wow thanks for all the input.  Much appreciated. Regarding the comment that "surely being a good shooter in the past I should know if a gun fits or not", yes, fair point.  I do like to think I know roughly what I am doing.  But 30 years ago I ran a small shooting ground, and had a number of...

Adjustable comb, fashion or real benefit

Thanks both.  Makes sense that one size fits all will mean that an off the shelf gun will be perfect for very few. I also fear the urge to constantly tweak something I can adjust.  And if the adjusters should only be used once - to set it up correctly and then leave alone, the better option...

Adjustable comb, fashion or real benefit

Hi all, Picking up on some one else's thread "Missing on the left" answered with some solid and clear advice from Hamster, I have been thinking about getting an adjustable comb fitted. But 30 years ago, I could shoot pretty well (A at sporting, AA at DTL) and was in the trade and virtually no...

    MedCert

My FAC and SC (and explosives acquire and keep - for muzzle loaders) all renewed in Jan.  As I understand it,  police are obliged to ask GP if they have any concern or objection.  My GP who was asked, then asked me for £30 for them to provide a report, but before I acted on that the renewals all...

    What will you do ?

Agree with Paul B. I have a motorbike, and a sports car,  and already miss being able to go for a run.  What harm would it cause?  I am isolated and would only get petrol at some self service station and so have zero contact. BUT ....  What I do (or what YOU do), others will follow.  Others...

What happens in a post Covid-19 world?

Hi Colin, a few years ago I may have agreed with you.  But planning prevents panic.  Buying some essentials when they are plentiful does no one any harm, and when they become scarce you don't add to the demand as you planned ahead.  Do you go to a shoot and buy cartridges there everytime you go...

What happens in a post Covid-19 world?

As Wonko points out, there is little chance of "the state" looking after all households in the event of a calamity.  We know this.  How could it work that way?  Localised flooding, sure send in the helicopters; but things will break down on more wide spread dramas.  But what can you do to...

What happens in a post Covid-19 world?

Interesting article on political positioning http://BBC News - Coronavirus: US-China battle behind the scenes https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/world-52008453 Talks about a political shift in global power, and ends by brief comparison to the Suez  crisis. I do understand the "Let's get through this...

What happens in a post Covid-19 world?

Olympics needs to be pushed back.  No question.  But it fits in with a cycle of other events, such as world championships, Common Wealth Games, Football world cups etc.  Maybe everything gets pushed one year to prevent an overly busy 2021, and to avoid all sorts of clashes of TV coverage...

What happens in a post Covid-19 world?

Wonko, absolutely  no offence was meant.  Genuinely wondering what people are thinking.  I have been to more than half the states, and also been all over Europe, and relatively recently to China.  I love most places I go, and most people I meet.  Spent an evening with Trump supporters in NYC...

What happens in a post Covid-19 world?

In the absence of pub philosophy in these social distancing times, thought I would ask here, admittedly a bunch of strangers on the Internet,  but not a random selection of the great unwashed, but hopefully a more intelligent and socially aware group that most fac and sc holders seem to be. I...

    What will you do ?

Horne club just posted that they are staying open until such time as they are told to close.

    What will you do ?

Just shot this morning at Long Siberia (Bisley Shooting Ground), so that is still open.  I am not sure if Covid-19 kills Springing Teal, because they seem to be pretty safe from me.

    What will you do ?

Clay shooting has to be one of the lowest risk for person to person transmission that you can do.  For competitors, the only physical contact you need with anything you don't bring with you is the score card which is passed among all the scorers.  Other sports inevitably have multiple people...

    Going over seas

Still using the EU firearms pass, extended that to 31st Dec I believe.  But not every country is the same.  I once rocked up to Sweden and had to leave the gun at the airport while I sorted out paperwork.  Not sure about Isle of Man, never shot there.  Channel Islands have their own firearms...

Is pellet size just another head thing?

Was shooting a mixture of 7.5, 8 and 9s at sporting at the weekend through cyl and quarter choke.  Horrible weather and not a good enough a shot to make a lot of difference, so just used whatever cartridge came out the pocket at the time, and wasn't going to fiddle with chokes.  But with the...

    Red shells or blue ones

I keep searching, but can't find any labeled as 'Low Performance' which would clearly suit me better.
