    IWA 'Postponed'

Possibly Europes biggest shooting related trade show, the IWA outdoor classics 2020 next week has been postponed due to the Covid-19 outbreak. https://www.iwa.info/en

Pattern testing and related ballistic analysis if steel and other non-toxic alternatives

The cupped shot ball mention is supported in these photographs. Steel shot ( or lead shot ) doesn't touch your barrels until its about a barrel length out of the gun. There are some 'eco wads' available already that don't use traditional plastics so the argument about plastic wads hardly holds...

    Greetings from America!

Well we sell several million dollars worth of clay shooting equipment in the US every year and you guys really know how to run a clay shoot ( several thousand shooters over 5 days or more in 10 disciplines or more ) so it all depends what you mean by 'a big deal' :)   Welcome

Is clay shooting a declining sport?

I agree. Excluding petrol to get to and from the ground a 100 sporting session costs about £0.55 per shot ( £35 for entry and £20 for shells ), you can kit up for well under £1000 and membership of a 'club' that usually does little more than give you a club ranking and cheaper practice clays...

    Which first competition

CPSA membership first. Then it's as simple as pitching up at a 'registered' shoot and signing on for the competition. Apart from comps with big entries, usually noted on their web or facebook site, you dont need to book for sporting but trap/skeet comps will be squadded so phone ahead first...

    armed police

Show us the supporting figures ( not newspaper headlines )   Sharp rise?  If you have 1 incident in a year and then 5 in the next year .... it's gone up 500%. In a population of 70 million, 6400 is barely statistically significant.  Does anyone here ( in the UK ) honestly fear being held up...

Sporting Shoots; where- and how was it? (2018)

Went out to the depths of Mid wales/Shropshire border to Griffin-Lloyd shooting ground on Sunday. Nice array of sporting targets over 20 stands. Drive around the ground to each stand, you need a car with a bit of clearance, 2 seat roadsters not recommended!

    Surface rusting on action.

ACF-50 is my choice. works very nicely on guns, cars, planes and boats! :)

    What a waste!

Not ANY club. Even at clubs where I'm a member and they have a copy of my cert they ask. As they should.

    Really !!!!

The shot still leaves the barrel as a small ball but the lack of a cup means it starts to spread in the muzzle blast so gets disrupted very slightly. Probably explains why fibre pattern a little more 'loosely'.

Tried one on a CG. It certainly seemed to draw the rib right to the right place.

    Really !!!!

Shot spends all of its time in the barrel, and just beyond it still firmly balled up. In a plaswad the stuff is still in the plastic cup! stringing out takes place because of minute differences in spin and drag on individual pellets.  High speed photography of shot leaving the barrel
