Sporting Shoots; where- and how was it? (2018)

Popped in to West Midlands Shooting Ground ( Hodnet ) for their late evening ( to 21:00 ) shoot. 50 Sporting and a few rounds of Compact. Lovely grounds and great facilities. ( just wish my satnav didn't take me to the back of the ground! ) Nice little sporting layout with some good targets on...

Sporting Shoots; where- and how was it? (2018)

Nope! Damn! I had been out the night before for massive curry and decided rather foolishly to forego Sunday breakfast on the basis that I had caught sight of myself in a mirror!

Sporting Shoots; where- and how was it? (2018)

My exploration of the clay grounds of the Western half of the UK continues! South Wales 2000 SG on Sunday for a reg 100.  I was towing a very wide, very low vehicle trailer, having delivered my wife's car down south and Ford's sat nav system seems to have a penchant for picking the tiniest...

    Tagging along with others

I wouldn't worry about it! I'm sure your local club can find a C shooter or two to send you out with. if not who cares. My first Fitasc Comp I scored 45/100 and the comments were supportive rather than derogatory! Part of why i got so hooked on the sport, in general we are a pretty easy going bunch!

Sporting Shoots; where- and how was it? (2018)

If you lot daaahn sarf are ever up this way then I can reccomend Old Glossop for a round of sporting. Very picturesque ground on the edge of the peak district with some 'different' targets shot on the side of a steep slope.

    Shoots are too easy nowadays

Add to all of the above that these days there is a wealth of help available to help a participants shooting, books and videos, people are more used to using coaches and even sports psychologists. Eyewear has improved. Guns and cartridges may have improved. Even the reliability of electric traps...

    EE or WW

.! Shot Kegworth today, my CPSA number came up as lapsed, my ww number 'unclassified' . Convinced them to use my old B classification.

    EE or WW

I moved to Wales. Registered with the Welsh Clay Target Association and got me a WW number, previously had an EE number from being in England. So when I sign in to a comp I have two options, use my CPSA number which has all my old classifications from a year ago or my WCTSA number which has me...

Sporting Shoots; where- and how was it? (2018)

Nope, I didn't, their squad seemed to accelerate away from us quite quickly. It does speak to the mans character though, that is the kind of thing that makes a gentleman, not throwing your toys! Been following some of the 'war' :)

Sporting Shoots; where- and how was it? (2018)

Classique at Westfield for me yesterday. 3 hour drive each way so a nice 5:15 start for a 09:30 first cage. First real competition I have shot in nearly 18 months. New gun a couple of weeks ago. Drive down from North Wales started under very low cloud and deteriorated into 150 metre fog. By the...

    Free scoring apps for android

In which case a spreadsheet is just as much use. Mucking about with a phone as you step out of the cage is counterproductive ( and antisocial :)  ) Photo the scorecard or take it home, sit down and enter it with a pint in hand. But does that even help? If you are shooting trap it's a little...

    Keyless entry...!!!

Keyless entry....... a solution to a problem that never existed and a security hole you can drive a buss through. Work of the devil ( or some fresh from UNI grads student who is probably now head of product development ) :)

Eley Hawk Titanium Strike & Titanium

Golf balls don't fly straight, far from it.  A golf ball depends on the dimples and backspin. The backspin imparts some gyroscopic stability but the combination of the two reduces pressure over the top of the ball and increases it under the bottom of the ball resulting in lift. A dimpled golf...

Eley Hawk Titanium Strike & Titanium

Nope!  Tell you what if one of the cartridge manufacturers popped up with an average 26 ( or even 26 1/2 to 27g ) 7 1/2 cartridge at say £160 per thousand they would mop up 80% of the market overnight. Strange that not one of the manufacturers has even tried to corner the market.
