    Mid level Competition cartridge

OK with your “very limited experience “ please tell me what a low end cartridge is when compared to a mid range cartridge, in my 40 plus years of shooting I’ve yet to find a cartridge that makes any noticeable difference to my scores, I’m sure that if you give the top shooters so called low end...

    Customising

Beretta did one some time ago but don’t think there was much demand for it.

    Fibre and Choking

Think you have just answered your own question, if you don’t notice any differences in keep your focus on hitting the clays and leave the plastic/ fibre issue alone

    Shoot reports and news 2024

Blimey, I thought Westfields was a premier ground but if people are getting peppered with shot how can the CPSA allow them to hold competitions under their name? Especially when you say that they are well known for it…

    2024 “wish list”

Richard, when I started shooting registered competitions some 40+ years ago, entry was £20 to £25 for 100 clays , £5 of that went into the prize pot , now entries are £45 to £50 for 100 clays but it’s still £5 that goes to the prize pot ….. Now I’m told clays are £80 to £90 / 1000 so you see...

    CPSA classification

As I have mentioned many times before, I am not a member of the CPSA but surely the association belongs to the members and if the members are not happy with this process of classification , then the members can get it changed? Or is it just to difficult to find a system that everyone is happy with?

Sporting shoots 2023. How was it?

High Gun was taken by Charlie Faulds… A fabulous shot but several comments were made! I also note that one of the Lovatt lads won Westfields… from a sportsmans viewpoint I don’t think family members or ground staff should be allowed to enter the competition let them go birds only by all means...

Sporting shoots 2023. How was it?

Nothing wrong with a shoot being won with a 86, that was the norm before social media and keyboard warriors all wanting to show off with their PB’s An average of 86 would still put you in AA …. Learn to shoot the tough targets was what I was told when I started over 40 years ago

Sporting shoots 2023. How was it?

I think we have all been guilty of not focusing on the less worrying stuff and coming unstuck, if you know of an easy solution to that problem please let us know, it’s so frustrating to hit the hard ones and then miss the simple ones, I just can’t stop doing it time after time…

Sporting shoots 2023. How was it?

I agree , Sean is one of the friendliest ground owners I’ve met so perhaps that’s the answer, on the very rare occasions I have been to his grounds the atmosphere is upbeat and enjoyable.

Sporting shoots 2023. How was it?

Weather couldn’t have been that much different at Gunsite from Westfield , yet two and a half times more entries. Just made me wonder why Gunsite is that much more popular ?

    Introduction and gun fit question

Ben, I’ve been following this thread with interest as have many others. In general I think you make some very valid points however can you please explain how the sport has changed, Your comment about Senna not being able to start a modern F1 car doesn’t really compare to putting a cartridge in a...

Who would you recommend and why ?

I would add Barbury Shooting School to your list, from what I am told you are likely to get the best selection and price from them compared to the others on your list
