Sporting shoots 2023. How was it?

Are the masses of shooters who will never have the ability to win a world championship or win their class adding anything to the event ? All I see from them is statements like I didn’t shoot to my ability when what the truth is their ability isn’t good enough . I foresee that at some point the...

    Bore solvents and gun cleaners?

I’m no metallurgist but any solvent that would compromise the solder or construction of the barrels would have to be very strong and would carry H&S warnings regarding handling and fumes etc.. In 40+ years Ive used most commercially available products and never had any issues, I wouldn’t worry...

Sporting shoots 2023. How was it?

Have a number of selection shots prior to the world championships and be in the top 3 of class at any one these to get a place at the worlds. The Worlds could then be on one weekend making it fairer for those due to changes in weather , can’t be beyond the wit of man surely

Sporting shoots 2023. How was it?

And that’s how it should be, a suitable World Champion is going to be one of a few shooters not one of the masses, perhaps there needs to be a qualification event to get to the World Championships ?

    Beretta World 2023

That I’m afraid is just plain cheating and they should be named and shamed. It’s the shooters responsibility to make sure they are in the correct class I bet they would be correcting a mistake if they were put into AA instead of B

Sporting shoots 2023. How was it?

The Hodnet Challenge for me on Sunday. Probably the best layout I’ve ever had the pleasure of shooting. 15 stands of 8 with 3 stands of super sporting thrown in for good measure, Ran like clockwork and refs that knew what they were doing. Gold star for West Midland Shooting Ground if all grounds...

    Hull new 24g loads

Bought 500 of these Superfast 24grm to try and I have to say I’m very impressed with them. Much smoother than I remember the 27 grms to be and the kills were very good through 3/8 ths choke even at 50+ yards, the barrels were clean afterwards too. Would definitely recommend them 👍

    Pre mounting sporting

So you missed 9, perhaps if you mastered shooting gun out of the shoulder you would have hit them 🤷🏼‍♂️

Sporting shoots 2023. How was it?

So not really worth the £47 fee by the sound of it, you would expect that if you are paying top dollar to enter you would get top dollar targets and not be distracted by seeing birds from the next stand… or is this expecting too much 🤷🏼‍♂️ As for the new building who will be paying for the...

    Pre mounting sporting

Yes things have moved on but not for the better, shoots used to be better, decent targets and not card filling fodder but that’s just my opinion

    Yildiz Pro Black.

I’ve had a play with a couple of Yildiz guns and have to say I was very surprised at how good they are. I was expecting them to be pretty average but they aren’t, the ones I tried have been well balanced nicely finished and very shootable. Time will tell on the reliability question but if I was...

    Guidance please

I know we all get that itch that needs scratching from time to time but as someone who has been there and done it more than once, I can assure you that you won’t find a gun that makes you shoot better. Stick with the MK and spend the cash on shooting more and enjoying it. Honestly it’s the best...

Cartridge price increases now getting silly

According to my friends in the USA the war in Ukraine is creating a huge demand for gun powder leaving the rest of us short and having to pay a premium price for it, don’t know how much truth there is in that but that’s what they say on the other side of the Atlantic.

Sporting shoots 2023. How was it?

I understand that the investment will have to be paid for but the return of money can be made by those who want testing targets just as quickly as those who want targets on the end of the gun. My point is what does putting on competitions like this do for the sport? Scores like that should be...

Sporting shoots 2023. How was it?

Well for me I would rather go to a tough course and come away with hitting 75 hard targets than go to an easy course and walk away with a 90 having missed 10 easy ones, but I have been shooting for 40 years so perhaps you could say I’m old school 🤷🏼‍♂️

Sporting shoots 2023. How was it?

Looks more like Skeet results not sporting, is this what the majority of shooters want these days?

Cartridges , value for money versus cost

With the latest jump in cartridge prices, has anyone thought of forming a syndicate say 15 or 20 shooters and buying a 100 thousand direct from the cartridge manufacturers? Would this cut one step in the supply chain and reduce prices?

Cartridges , value for money versus cost

I wasn’t judging anything, just surprised that at 15 yards the wad has dropped off the pattern.

Cartridges , value for money versus cost

Surprised that there isn’t a mark that the wad hit. At 15 yards I would have thought the wad should still be in the pattern?

    Brace yourself

If premium cartridges get to £400 a thousand how many shooters will be competing and how many cartridges manufacturers will be in the market? There won’t be enough for all of them to survive
