    Replacement for bead

Is this an attempt to sort out an eye dominance problem?

    Cartridge prices falling?

Schmokinn are these Trust cartridges the same as the Sportsman Gun Centre's Super Smokers a couple of years ago?

    Thank you, Mr Blaser....

....for the early Christmas present which arrived today. The 323 page sumptuously photographed catalogue of the Blaser 2018 range of products will give me hours of enjoyment. It must have cost a fortune to put together, print and despatch, and I very much appreciate it. Thanks again Charles

    Definition of "Straw Baler

I suspect we need another term for those regular shoots that don't deserve any hint of sneeriness. I'm thinking of the late lamented Somerley, and I'm thinking of Ower, Pilford, and shoots like that where a lot of thought goes into their layouts, facilities are decent, and targets well considered.

    Definition of "Straw Baler

I'm uncertain how the term "Straw Baler" is defined. Are we simply talking about a shoot which is not CPSA registered? Or a local outfit that decides to have a one-off clay shoot for charity? Or something in between?

    Brace yourself...

Perhaps we'll see a return to paper cases like we had in the old days. It's perfectly feasible to make shotgun cartridges without any plastic at all.

    John Norrris shop opinions

I'm about to shop with them as a returning customer. I found them very helpful when I had occasion to return a pair of trousers a while ago - I had ordered the wrong size.

    Servicing intervals

The Greener in my avatar was made in 1892. I believe it was thoroughly "gone over" - fine bored, reproofed, rebrowned, action rejointed, by Powell's in 1979, after which I acquired it. A couple of years ago a cocking lever peg was replaced, at which time the gentleman who did it asked if I...

    Subsonic?

Schmokinn I shall abandon my obviously pathetic attempt to preserve the anonymity of the outfit in question! This morning at 9.15 when I signed in they had seven people down on their list when the young lady enquired as to my intentions. She didn't ask again when I signed out and paid for the...

    Subsonic?

Tried these today in the drizzle. I took a box of them into the woods with a box of Pro Ones in order to compare. These Super Soft things are definitely Soft, but for me they're definitely not Super. I shall not be purchasing any more. After a trial that failed to impress the other four...

    Why 12?

"And of course like all things Limey the number 12 was initially selected cos if you count all of your fingers the number is 10." Not always in these parts

    Subsonic?

Dam' right there Wonko. Same goes for women, guns, cars, boats, dogs, and the list goes on. Sadly I rarely get it right, except for MrsP.

    Why 12?

I wonder if the calibre of the early eighteenth century Brown Bess (and later) so beloved of the "Thin Red Line" might have influenced popular opinion as to the bore size of choice?

    Caesar guerini invictus system

Is that a sidelock or is it side-plated?

    Subsonic?

I'm not convinced about the manufacturers doing that, Hamster. They are all keen to market their stuff and the suggestion of "faster", "longer range", "more powerful" will always exert a pull on quite a percentage of their customer base.  But this thread has provided me with much food for...

    Subsonic?

"Alternatively wait till they build a new road in,club house, skeet and trap ranges so you can shoot what you like.......or buy tour own golf cart" I'm sure I don't know what you mean!

    Subsonic?

As you saw last week, Schmokinn, the "screwing up of my shooting" requires no assistance...

    Subsonic?

I think Wonko may have put the dampers on it, what with the requirement for "impeccable trechnique"!

    Subsonic?

The point, I'm told, is noise reduction. The question is really about me deciding if it's a good idea to go shooting clays at a ground where one has to use them.

    Subsonic?

I would like to ask those with experience of using subsonic cartridges about their experiences. Looking at the claimed muzzle velocity of the cartridges on Just Cartridges' website it becomes rapidly apparent that a subsonic cartridge's pellets are travelling rather slower straight out of the...
