What’s up with the high rib?

Yeah you guys are right. The high or stepped ribs were mostly used for trap, most commonly DTL and American trap. Over the years many DT shooters adopted them. They were never that popular with OT, UT or ABT shooters, although I have used a few over the years. Can’t say they made me shoot any...

    Oxford Gun Company Issue

Sorry but this just doesn’t sit well with me. If a dealer takes a gun to sell on commission surely charging storage as well is just not on. On that basis they will make money even if they fail to sell the thing. I’ve sold guns on commission, admittedly a long time ago, but I seem to remember...

    New old gun

Well me old mate, I reckon you’re right, it’s an old geezer thing! We can still remember the days , say from the 80’s , maybe to the early 2000’s when Miroku’s were everywhere. Some well known shooters in all disciplines used them to win just about everything in sight. The likes of Peter...

    New old gun

Well after seven years away from clay shooting i finally shot my new, 28 year old MK38 trap gun yesterday. I’ve had it since last year and spent time getting it into fairly decent shape, it was a little tatty when I got it. My nearest ground only shoots DTL, which I’ve not shot in maybe 12...

    Repairing new shotgun

Looks like a nice job. I have a grade three as well, but mine is 28 years old. 😂 I had my barrels re blacked earlier this year.

    Consultation on Firearms Licensing

I got a link sent to me by BASC so I filled in the thing. I believe that all forms of shooting are under threat! Ok this is nothing new, but I reckon this time we are going to get hit hard!

    Beretta 686 barrel problem

It most definitely should not do that at any age! To be honest I’ve never seen anything like that and I’ve been shooting shotguns for several decades. I would imagine a proper gunsmith could sort it or get it sorted. Personally I would say have a word with Pat Croft, he did a job for me that...

How things have changed on here.

I still hear from Ian from time to time. Yeah he’s into the green wellie stuff these days. 😂

How things have changed on here.

Hello Robert, long time no hear, so to speak!  Yes some of us have come back here. Some have sadly passed away too.  Yep, Covid and the cost of living have taken their toll on all forms of shooting. My rifles went a couple of years ago, so I’m now down to just an old MK 38 to play with, when...

    surprise !

Well back in the 80’s/90’s I had two 682 X trap guns,a 30 and a 32,  yeah very heavy kit! Great for DTL but too much gun for fast trap, just my opinion of course. I had similar issues with a K80 in the end. But great guns all the same.

Here you go, long barrel 44 mag . Can be held on section 1

    Journalism in this country

To be honest there are some very odd rules/restrictions on section 7. I’m not sure if you can keep the gun and ammo at home or whether they need to be kept at a home office approved club. As far as I’m aware they can be fired at such a club.  A few years back I had a section 1 Taurus revolver...

Colin you would be amazed at what stuff is classed as historic or special interest. I’ve seen quite a few Colt 1911’s in private hands, usually from ww2. Very hard to get a ticket for such guns these days though.  I believe the actual section for historic pistols is 7.3

Funny you should mention Glock Colin. There are some in circulation actually, under section 7 I believe. Basically historic or special interest firearms. I know I guy who had one! It was one of ten I think, documented as being made for trial use by British special forces. The guy who owned it...

Shoot difficulty. And the elephant in the room.
