    Trap guns

The gun I shoot today is pretty much the same gun really. Just three or four years newer that my old 3800. 😂 It will still out shoot and outlast me! 😂😂😂

    Kemen

Aha, grail gun syndrome! It’s an affliction that most if not all of us have suffered from at some point. Some are never cured of it, in some people it lays dormant for years and suddenly it pops up again.  I don’t believe there is any proven or known cure. 😂

How things have changed on here.

Well it doesn’t surprise me. I know quite a few guys who no longer shoot and others who have cut back, myself included. Ive heard that sporting shoots are well attended in the south and some trap grounds up north are still doing well. Down here in the south west I believe it’s not so good.

    DT10 to a DT11 or vice versa

Jan you mentioned Kolar, lovely guns. I’ve only ever seen one, that was at Purbeck Shooting School when Graham Brown was trying to introduce them into the U.K. as far as I remember.  I don’t recall ever seeing anyone actually using one and I’ve never met anyone who’s owned one.  Yet another...

    DT10 to a DT11 or vice versa

I’ve had the 10 and the 11. Personally I preferred the 10. I had a pretty early 11 and I was never really happy with the patterns it threw. They seemed very open, I tried all sorts of different shells but it made little difference.  Basically I lost confidence in the gun, as lovely as it was.

    Kemen

It does seem as though the gun to copy is the Perazzi!  The latest look alike seems to be the Yildiz Pro. I’ve not seen one face to face, but in the reviews on you tube they look rather nice.

    Kemen

I vaguely remember the name, but don’t think I ever saw one.

How things have changed on here.

I know that my county has struggled with membership for years. We have few places to shoot in the county which doesn’t exactly help.  The other thing is that many shooters that I’ve met don’t want to shoot comps, so other than a magazine and insurance they see little reason to belong to the...

    Kemen

Well Mike, I do seem to remember hearing about stock’s cracking, but then it died out. Along with the import of the guns it seems . Gamba was another brand that seemed to vanish. I seem to remember a young Aaron Heading used a Gamba for many years, until Beretta made him an offer he couldn’t...

    Kemen

Anyone know why Kemen seem to have dropped off the radar?  I believe they are still being made, some used ones on gun trader. At one time it seemed as though they were really catching on, I seem to remember a few well known names used them at one time.  If I remember correctly, they were...

    Trap guns

Ah the good old Winchester! I shot quite a few back in the 80’s but unfortunately I never owned one.  I’ve had two guns that I regret selling, one was an MX8 Vintage that I had made for me, the other was a Miroku3800 grade3. It was a lovely looking gun and overall I shot it better than any gun...

    Revoked shotgun / firearms tickets.

I agree Jan, the guy needs to get some proper legal advice without a doubt.  They must think they have some valid reason to take his ticket and his guns.  The police are now going to be super cautious about everything related to gun ownership.

Yes I reckon manufacturers have changed things👍

    Gun reviews on youtube

I don’t disagree with that at all.  Oddly enough, a lot of guns that are out there and sold  as sporters, actually started out as trap guns. The Miroku mk38 being one that springs to mind, same goes for the Perazzi MX series and the K80.  As you will know, quite a few well known sporting...

    Trap guns

Well you’re not the first person to mention that!  Traditionally trap guns usually had higher and thicker stocks, usually with a thick recoil pad and less drop between heel and comb, tighter chokes, beaver tail forends, longer barrels, and a bit more weight. These days it seems that a lot of...

    Gun reviews on youtube

I guess I can understand why the sporters have the most appeal. Sporting does seem to have become way more popular than trap or  skeet, or at least it seems that way.

How things have changed on here.

The CPSA used to be very good at engaging the membership back in the 80’s and 90’s.  I’m no longer a member but before my membership lapsed I seem to remember that a new guy became the head honcho and they tried to re invent themselves.  As far as I was concerned it didn’t work.

    Gun reviews on youtube

Well mate, I can’t say I’ve ever laid my hands on either of those! 😂  You know most gun reviews that I’ve seen or read, have been about sporters. Not that many are about trap guns. Is it because sporting is now so popular or is there some other reason?
