    Gun reviews on youtube

Lloyd, what would you say is the worst gun you’ve ever tried or reviewed? Just curious.

Glad she’s still around Will. Yeah I remember she was involved in some foreign stuff years back.

That’s a lot of miles!!!  Yeah I shot East Yorks back in the old days, good place to shoot.  I think the lady you’re referring to is Nicola Heron. I’ve not heard anything of her in years. A good shot and very outspoken. 😂

How things have changed on here.

I used to travel all over the place years ago. But that was back when I was younger and fuel was cheaper.  Not only that, I get bored with driving these days.

    Long/high bird technique

Go on Pete, go sort him out mate. I can’t help him in any way, everything I shoot comes out of the deck, or somewhere close to it. 😂

You lucky sod, mind you there always was more trap shooting up north.

    Trap guns

I once had a multi choke k80, I did try 1/2 and full for OT, but the 1/2 choke kills always seemed a bit chippy somehow. Yeah they were kills all the same, but I had the feeling inside my head that perhaps the pattern was too open.  We all know that any doubt about your gun/choke or shells is...

How things have changed on here.

Well I live in West Dorset and this is a trap shooting desert these days! Basically since the closure of Southern Counties back in 2015/16. Yes I can shoot DTL within about half an hour drive into Devon, other than that there’s bugger all trap shooting in less that 1.5 hrs (sometimes 2 hrs in...

    Trap guns

Well you are definitely right about Miroku! I’ve had quite a few over the years, in amongst the various Perazzi’s, K80, DT10, DT 11.  I have now returned to Miroku yet again and I doubt I shall ever buy another gun. I’m too old for chopping and changing now. My current gun is 28 years old but...

    Trap guns

Pete, yeah we’ve both been down the same route mate. Many many times unfortunately 😂

    Trap guns

Ok this has all been done before, I do realise that!  So let’s do it again.  I would guess that we all have our favourite make of trap gun, I certainly do.  I’ve had some that cost a small fortune, I had one made for me. As lovely as it was, I’m back shooting a very ordinary gun, because I...

How things have changed on here.

Well I was absent from here for quite a long time, until quite recently.  Yes the place is quieter than it was.  Lots of regulars seem to have gone, some have sadly passed away, ie Fred(40up) and Hammy.  I do know that some have stopped shooting clays and others that have stopped shooting...

    The steel thing

I would like to try some, however my gun is a pretty tight 3/4 and full and only nitro proof. So that means, as far as the U.K. proof houses are concerned, it’s choked too tight for steel and not proofed for high performance steel.  As for steel shot wearing out barrels? Well the guy that put...

    The steel thing

Yep I saw that and another video about long term barrel damage, nobody seems to truly know how much damage is possible or over time.

    The steel thing

There is also another question, as a mate pointed out to me earlier today. Do we know the long term effect of steel shot on the barrels over a long period? Ok , of course it depends on how many shells you use over a given period, but has any proper research been done? I don’t mean opinions, I...

    The steel thing

You know, given all the speculation and rumours surrounding standard steel, high performance steel, steel proof barrels, nitro proof barrels.  I’ve watched various videos, read various articles concerning steel shot, but as yet I’ve not seen anything that shows some kind of direct comparison...

    The steel thing

Thanks for the information, we do still have some very small shooting grounds here in the U.K. Nice to have input from someone outside of the U.K. 👍

    The steel thing

Hi Ben, I guess your k80 barrels are steel proof? Are you using standard steel or high performance steel? What shot loads and sizes are you using?
  20. Les53

    The steel thing

I guess the other thing to think about are our shooting grounds and their owners.  Will course setters need to adjust their courses so as to avoid damage to trees etc, avoid ricochets?  If effective clay breaking range is reduced with the use of steel, will some disciplines need to have the...
