I decided to have my tired Miroku barrels re blacked. Took them to a local gunsmith who sent them to be blacked. He ended up sending them away twice as the finish was awful. I was told that due to some issue with the barrels, a good finish was impossible.
Well I simply didn’t believe it so I...
I have to admit that I’ve used BASC legal department and their firearms section quite a few times over the years and found them excellent.
I lost heart with the CPSA some years ago, I rarely seem to see any political lobbying from the CPSA.
As for the lead shot issue? Well I think everyone...
You are probably correct there. I’ve shot clays for, I guess 35-40 years, I’m no longer a CPSA member. I no longer shoot comps so I don’t need the CPSA, I’m still a member of BASC even though I’ve never been a game shooter.
At least BASC fights for the rights of all shooters, they have a good...
Hi Ian, this is an awful shock! RIP Fred, proper gentleman and a great trap shooter!
I last saw him at Southern Counties, must be at least eight or nine years ago. Very sad news indeed.
Oh please don’t get me started on that one mate.
The IOC should be shut down!
Look at all the crap that is now included in the Olympics in general.
Shooting as a whole is deemed as taboo now, we are backing a loser. Let’s have some green eco friendly tart stuff, how about Olympic Origami? ...
This country has had some of the best trap shooters on the planet, I won’t attempt to name them. 😂
Yes DTL can seem boring BUT…..it’s a total mind game, you could hit 100 birds straight, but the guy who hits 99 or less could beat you, if you took too many second barrels.
That kind of pressure...
You’re very lucky! The only real ground we have left in Dorset is Purbeck. They have no trap there and I think the skeet range is finished too. Very sad.
The only shooting ground we have left is Purbeck. A few straw balers and that’s it.
Yes I know what you mean about the north, always was like that. Mind you when I started shooting trap back in the 80’s when I lived in London, I had four grounds that shot trap within less than an hour from me. Of those four only one still has trap as far as I know, in fact two of them have...
Hi Wes, it does seem like sporting is the in thing these days mate. Even when you go to a gun shop now, there seem to be very few trap guns on the racks.
My nearest trap ground is only about half an hour away in Devon actually , but it’s only DTL and to be honest the ground is a total dump...
Well Jan, I’ve been out of the game for a number of years, but I decided to come back.
I won’t be shooting any comps though, just banging away for a bit of fun. Good to hear that young people are still getting into trap. 👍
I guess trap is now a minority game. In my county we don’t even have a single trap layout now.
let’s face it, you can set up a straw bale sporting shoot almost anywhere, to set up trap layout is something else, even DTL.
Anyway nice to hear that I’m not totally on my own.
So it’s just old...
I’ve had so many guns I should have kept mate. My old 3800 grd3 was a cracker, so was my last mx8. But that’s life as they say. Yes, 3800’s are now becoming quite rare.
Well I’ve gone back to my roots, well almost! Today I got a 1995 MK38 grd3 30 inch trap gun. I’ve done most of the fancy guns, so now I’m back to low tech, old tech. 😂
Showing its age a bit, but I’m sure most issues can be rectified by a good gunsmith, mainly cosmetic stuff, the woodwork I can...
