    Focus and distraction

The key is to find a way of switching off your concentration when these interruptions occur, and then switch it back on - now this is not an easy thing to master. There are people out there who can help you switch between states, but it takes a lot of practice, I find simply thinking of non...

    Setting the bar in ESP

What Ed said... Although I understand the dilemma that ground owners face, every Sunday they have to set a balanced course, one that the serious shooter will find challenging but a course that will not destroy the enjoyment of the regulars. The answer is pretty obvious, alternate your weekend...

Southdown todays FITASC and winter series results

Yes it was a little windy, not sure it affected the layouts too much, winning score of 91 is the right score for FITASC, good variation and mix of technical targets, the layout behind the clubhouse was challenging especially from stand 3, the A target wa a head scratcher, some of the squad...

    New to shooting

Save yourself a load of regret and get  a Miroku MK38, MK60, work horse of a gun, loads of them about, generally fit etc etc. Cap is optional, quality glasses and ear defenders are a must.

Southdown todays FITASC and winter series results

Bob, thought the course this weekend was excellent, think we had 2 no birds all day so another big well done on that score as well. Looking forward to the GB selection now and hope the 2 day courses are like this.

    24g for esp

24g will prob improve your scores, less fatigue, less recoil so second shot is easier, Will is right, generally a better pattern - lets not go down that road! And Dark Side is also correct, its a mental thing, if 28g were banned tomorrow scores would be exactly the same. I used Hull Sovereign...

    Silly mistakes

The key, and this is what some people call being in the zone, is to focus sub consciously on shooting the target, ALL your focus is on that, you don't hear any distractions, you are not conscious about loading the gun or calling pull, achieve this and you will come away thinking that shooting is...

    Silly mistakes

Simple answer is you are talking to yourself in your head. The only time you should do that mid stand is when you miss and you need to work out why! Anything that interferes with the task you are concentrating on can cause you to then miss, mentally saying, I will straight this stand now...

    CPSA Averages and Scores

What Steve means is build a good average and then watch it get smashed when you shoot Westfield ., only joking - honest... The only thing averages help you with is to track your progress and whether you are generally improving or not.

    CPSA Averages and Scores

Loads of people don't bother to be members now, there are currently 1m shotgun certificate holders in the UK, of which 20,000 belong to the CPSA, I believe BASC membership is currently running at just over 100k but happy to be corrected on that. The CPSA are shocking at marketing themselves or...

    sporting fixed choke

OK there isn't a clay you cannot break with a 28gr 7 1/2 shell, big loads for rabbits... Utter fecking tosh. As for chokes 3/8's will kill EVERY target on any sporting shoot, although if you prefer ink bloats you may need to shoot with 3/4 chokes...

    Practical Shotgun

Now now Ian... PSG is actually requires a lot of skill, a friend of mine used to do it and it looked a great deal of fun. Clays is the first choice but sometimes a little variety can't hurt.

    Southdown Fitasc 17/18.1.16 results

Bob Any chance of getting the traps sorted, we had more no birds on the Pattern Plate and Westfield layouts then is acceptable and really destroyed the enjoyment of the day. I understand the weather might have played a part but it should not have got to that bad.
