    NEC - The Shooting Show

Anyone going to the Shooting Show at Birmingham NEC this weekend? I’m going tomorrow with a shooting mate of mine.

    Looking after your wood

I recently stripped back the CCL stock oil finish on my Beretta because it had become too shiny, so much so that it looked like gloss varnish. Got it back to a nice satin finish, then made the mistake of reading the marketing blurb for Browning Legia spray…..now it’s glossy again 🙄

    Chokes….yet again!

That all seems good advice. I think I’m going to invest in some 3/8 or LM’s in new money and get on the pattern plate. The 3/8 sounds likely to be the best all rounder. Thanks to everyone for the input. 👍

    Another price increase

Isn’t this just reflective of the world we live in at the moment? I work in the construction industry and we are finding that suppliers and sub-contractors are now only validating quotes for 14 days rather than the previous 30 days, due to constant price increases. Last week I paid £265 for...

    New Gun Day!

You may well keep it for life, I know a couple of shooters that have. I didn’t, I had a Lanber as my first gun, ended up part exchanging it for my current 682 gold.

    New Gun Day!

Nice one! You never forget your first gun…..just enjoy it 👍

    CPSA Majors “Competition Only”

Thanks Will 👍 I can’t wait to be around some decent shots…..if I use the golf comparison again, I always found it the best way to learn was to watch the pro’s, how they go about there business….all great to watch and absorb.

    What did you get?

    CPSA Majors “Competition Only”

Sorry if I’ve completely misunderstood this thread. I actually joined the CPSA today with the intention of enjoying taking part in some registered shoots. So I assume this means I’ll need to pay an extra £10 to enter? A small price to pay in my mind. I’m just looking forward to being part of it...

    Chokes….yet again!

Thanks DL and Jan, I do plan to get on a pattern plate this coming weekend. Also noted that the different makes of choke may not share the same dimensions. I am surprised with the tight tolerances in today’s manufacturing that manufacturers don’t standardise these? I still think 1/2 or M if I...

    Chokes….yet again!

Thanks Luke 👍 The GMK link explains it perfectly!!! So I guess I’m using one that’s too open and the other is too tight. Time to invest in some 3/8 or LM’s.  Unfortunately, both guns use different types 😕

    Chokes….yet again!

Firstly, sorry….I can almost hear all the forum veterans groaning, or worse. I’m recently returned to shooting and just confused by the whole choke thing. Both my guns are multi-choked and I tend to shoot English Sporting with Express 7.5 28g Power Golds. At present my O&U has a Brierley...

    Gun Safety etiquette

Sorry Will, I may be explaining this poorly. If our man is stood on a clock face and the tower birds are coming from 12 o’clock toward 6 o’clock. The wives were stood at 5 o’clock behind him and slightly to one side (one of the wives was on the buttons). I was stood at 7 o’clock. When I shouted...

    Gun Safety etiquette

Will, it wasn’t a ‘straw bailer’….far from it. He wasn’t stood in a cage, as he was stood on a paving slab. A bit like a skeet stand…..but not skeet? I guess what annoyed me was that if he’d shot it properly, the potential situation would never have happened. It’s was purely that he thought he’d...

    Gun Safety etiquette

Scotty, have shot with him quite a few times and he’s never done anything like this before. I did shout at the time abs he quickly pointed the unbroken gun back down range. It just nagging me that he’s messaged about the shooting yesterday but skirted around what happened? I think I’d feel much...

    Gun Safety etiquette

An awkward safety situation arose on Sunday that I hope the sage forum boys and girls can advise on? I was at a shooting ground on Sunday for some target only practice with my regular shooting mate and our wives. Whilst shooting a driven overhead bird off a high tower that due to the wind was...

    New-Old Shooter

Thanks Martyn! It is a lovely gun, feels so solid and fits me nicely, sadly I don’t do it justice. It’s a left-hander that I bought s/hand from Park Street Guns in 97. I can’t believe how much the clay shooting buzz has come back. I can’t get enough!

How much is too much ?

I’ve just come back to the sport after 5 or so years lay off. I must admit the price of clays and cartridges had shocked me. Yet the price of guns doesn’t seem to have jumped as much?

    New-Old Shooter

Hi, I just wanted to say hello. I’m new to the forum and newly returned to clay pigeon shooting. I’ve shot for about 25 years but hadn’t touched my gun for about 5-6 years. A friend and colleague started and kept badgering me to shoot with him. I must admit dusting my Beretta 682 Gold off and...
