    Gun fitter

A bit out of order when he was not advised of that fact before hand, not that this information is being noted as the OP has not been back on since the 16th.

    New stock

More like Daystate limited editions. I wish I was clever enough to make one for my rifles.

    Spur of the moment.

I popped into my rfd yesterday just to drop something off for him and as we all do, my eyes are scouring the racks, always dangerous and whilst looking on the bargain rack where I had picked up a Browning B80 a few weeks ago (and returned it) I noticed a pretty little gun that took my eye, a...

    surprise !

Oh my god DL, I know that feeling so very well which is why I don't shoot clays as much as I would like. It is made worse as I have my wife shooting as well 🤔 Phil

    surprise !

Just wondered if you knew some friends, Barry Coleman and Keith Roe although I have not seen Keith in a long time, something I want to do this summer. Phil

    surprise !

Judging by the fact that you shot at Orston, Do you also shoot at Cockets Farm as well.

    New stock

Well done that man, it may not be my taste having a laminated shotgun stock although I love them on rifles but nevertheless good on you. Looking forward to seeing the end result.

Beretta wood - needs a feed

A couple of years ago I was put onto 'Tung oil'  applied on your hand and worked in using only your hand which gets very warm during the process and I think that is part of the secret to drive the oil into the stock. Use it sparingly and wiping off any excess...

    comb too high ?

No matter how often I try, I just don't gel with a high comb so I shoot guns which are flat to me, and when I shoot trap with my sporter, I have a strange method to raise my head extra high which seems to work well for me on all forms of trap. I saw one Olympic Trap shooter some years ago, mount...

If you are in London, I would contact Holland and Holland shooting ground in Northolt to see if they can help you.

    First licence application

Totally agree, it is important you show you are not hiding anything, they will know and if you don't mention it,  they are likey to take it as lying on your application but a word with the Firearms officer for your area may be worth while. Phil

    surprise !

Funnily enough I have been thinking about a dedicated trap gun from Beretta, when you think about it the 682 is one of the best competition guns ever made. A few years ago, I bought  a 682 Gold E X high rib trap in 32'', what a heavy lump, I am no lightweight but this was heavy even picking it...

Cartridges , value for money versus cost

Clay shooting was always regarded as a rich man's sport but then the barriers were broken down with a great number of smaller clubs sprouting up all over the land during the early 70s and 80s, many of which have now gone and the direction is once again heading towards it being a rich man's...

    The future is,

Sadly Les, I can only agree.  I have an old Winchester 101 that we have refurbed the stock for my son in law to use on occasion and he is going for a shotgun ticket but I am in doubt how he will go on, not because of any previous issues but simply because it is now becomming difficult to get the...

    Nordic Clays

    Can't argue with that.

    Nordic Clays

I saw an article about Nordic Clays the other day which caught my attention as the trap is run on a rechargable battery and is not much bigger than a cordless drill. The clays are not as we know them and in priciple are nearer to 'ZZ' targets, in fairness halfway between the two. Now as the...

    Cleaning Rod

I must be very bad as I only clean the barrels now and again. Years ago I always cleaned the guns after every time they were used but I find modern cartridges don't present any problems SO FAR so I am a lazy sod but there it is.

Just how often are you guys cleaning your guns.

    The steel thing

My wife and I have just booked into John Bidwell's Highlodge for a week in September then reading this again, makes me wonder if we will have any money left to shoot and eat after buying the cartridges....... we will ensure the wine and gin are plentyful though 😁 Phil

Not what we want to hear........

There has been quite a lot of discussion on various face book groups regarding tickets being revoked or the police knocking on the door to do a spot check, I don't know if it is true but in the conversation several people said they ran into some trouble by how they stored their cartridges. I...
