    Credit where it's due.

'NOT TOO SHABBY'............................a slight understatement there I feel.  I am in the Humberside region and my renewal took 14 weeks, my wife is one year behind me was 16 weeks and my pal is 12 weeks so far for a change of address. We are hearing of new applications being over a year. ...

Semi auto, love em / hate em.

I have owned a number of auto shotguns over the years from a Remmy 1100 with three barrels through Beretta, browning, Hatsan, Savage pump etc etc and the one thing we all know about semi autos is that at some time or another, we watch the man with an auto with a little extra attention just to...

Thermal or NV sight for shotgun?

I think the black eye would be a certainty.  If you are serious and I am not so sure you are but thermal is a no no, far to delicate, NV is split into two camps, 'add-on' which is no use as they are for connecting to scopes or complete NV scopes which will not fit as you have no scope rail on a...

    Adjustable Combs

100% agree with the above comments.

    Cabinet modifications

You have done a great job Scotty. I have each of my cabinets in an over stairs cupboard and one in an under stairs cupboard. In the over stairs cupboard, I added a very small radiator so no condensation at all and in the under stairs cupboard, the heating pipes run through that store anyway so...

    My first (Budget) gun

My wife now uses the ATA 30'' Sporter with adjustable stock and it seems to be quite a decent gun for the money. When buying any of the cheaper Turkish guns be aware that the the stock comb can vary quite a bit so an adjustable comb is a major advantage, this was very apparent with Kofs who have...

    Tips on going away targets

Very sound advice here and one thing I did about 50 years ago when I had a similar problem was to take the advice from a very experienced trap shooter, shoot a few rounds of DTL even if the trap is locked on central fire which is just repeating the same type of shot and I found helped me to...

How things have changed on here.

Oh I am so very sorry to hear that, he was so active on here. I certainly didn't agree with some of what he said but nevertheless a real character always with something to say.

    Cartridge speed ? Significant

I have used in the main Eley Superb for years but some years ago I joined a pub team shooting around the Sheffield area at different grounds on a Tuesday evening in the summer and very enjoyable it was. The problem for me was that all the grounds holding the comps used only fibre wad cartridges...

How things have changed on here.

I know I have been away for some time but I am amazed at the thread / post activity in the Shooting Disciplines section. I must be bored today because I have checked on the recent posts in all disciplines with these results. Sporting :-    3 new Threads this year and September was the most...

Hello Ian, it's been a while. I am very sorry to hear that your friend 40up had passed away. I do remember his input on this forum, a sad loss. I hope you are keeping well Phil

    Brace yourself

Well in North Lincolnshire region, the smallbore ammo has certainly increased several times, not like cartridges, I agree but nevertheless we are paying more for our .22LR / .17HMR / .22WMR and would assume all centrefire is up as well as it is the component parts that have increased. Phil

    Been away..................................quite a while.

My thoughts exactly. I looked at a DT11 (s/h) and a new 694 in the shop and to be very honest, I did not really get the feel of confidence with the DT11, it felt quite different to my old DT10, the 694 however sat very well in the shoulder but in a gun dealer we don't know how it will perform...

    Brace yourself

I also got the email from Just Cartridges today as well, not good news at all. The other sad aspect to this is all the old buggers like me who are retired, finding the extra dosh for these price hikes, not easy at all. Phil

    Brace yourself

When I mentioned reloading, it was tongue in cheek however I have in all honesty thought of going back to reloads for any non comp shooting because at 71 shooting on a pension as well as having my wife shooting as well is getting very difficult on the pocket and I will be talking to 'Clay and...

Cartridges , value for money versus cost

I must say the F-Blu and Black were one of the best shells I have used but very difficult to get hold of in my neck of the woods and now Eley are easliy available locally, I am very very happy to use them.

    Been away..................................quite a while.

I must say my CG is a cracking gun and the only reason I would change is that I want to go back to 32'' barrels but perhaps keep the CG and mod the stock to use for OT / UT / ABT.........................jury is out on that one however.  Could be I stay with CG and get a 32'' but over the years I...

    Brace yourself

Perhaps time to switch from my beloved Eley Superbs down to a cheaper cartridge like Eley Select. I did try a couple od boxes of the 24gr which shot really well and my wife shoots the 21gr on DTL which seem to work fine.   Hmmm food for thought 🤔 Phil
