Thanks CSC3. Should have said it will be my first gun, just waiting for SGL to arrive. Budget is around £800. Looking at second hand.

Tomorrow I'm off to try a couple of guns with a view to buying. They have been sourced by a RFD who is instructing me. They are a Browning 525 and an A1 along with two Nikkos (sorry don't know which model). Any views on them will be appreciated no matter how derogatory! Cheers.

I was suprised when I got the phone call to make the visit appointment having been told 16 weeks. He said all the checks had been done but I was suprised when he said that it could take another 3 months for it to come through. Surely the time consuming bit has been done and it is just a case of...

Thanks for the steers for instruction. The firearms dude said it could take upto 3 months for the licence to come through and said their manning had been cut by 50%. 24 weeks and counting has put a severe dampener on my expectations!

Thanks for the welcome. Firearms officer visit just finished. He's happy. In and out in 25 minutes, now the wait for the licence begins.......

Hi, just joined the forum and awaiting SGL from Hampshire. Been told 16 weeks! Already read some of the topics on here and much food for thought. Had a couple of lessons and totally hooked.
