    Shoot reports and news 2024

Shot the English Open at Doveridge today, it was my first competition event of this kind outside of the standard registered shoots. I’m a C class shooter with an average of 60%, so I was happy to walk away with an 83. Targets were fun, I enjoyed the driven stand where I hit 7 and the final...

    To Choke Or Not ?

Be nice to see it with the refurbished wood, quite a good project gun.

For Sale Swatcom Active 8 Ear Defenders

Swatcom Active 8 Ear Defenders (Black) Purchased new in June 2023, used a handful of times. Still in what I would describe as like new condition. Im selling due to preferring in-ear type defenders. These have been kept clean and dry indoors and havent seen any wet weather. No damage to ear...

    Short Arms ?

sounds like the guns were either too low or too high for you so you compensated by moving your head back thus stretching your arms. I would suggest an adjustable stock or a gun fit. Cant enjoy it, if you're in pain.

    B725 Protrap 32" vs CG Invictus V 30"

im 6.2 and shoot a 30 inch MK38 with an adjustable comb, i was pushed to buy a 32 at the point of sale but preferred the sight picture on the 30. Its a 9Ib gun, so i wanted to shed a little weight where i could. I like the compact nature of the 30 and will on occasion try a friends 32 on the odd...

    To Choke Or Not ?

I do prefer extended chokes mainly for the barrel protection, it’s also easier to tighten. I tried some ported chokes, needless to say after shooting one round of sporting the filth all over the barrel end and front bead made the decisions to sell them easier.

    Fore end grip

I do find some peoples pre shot routine a bit irritating, especially when it takes them 3 or so minutes of faffing between each pair to get ready. It adds up across 12-13 stands and I feel you should be told to hurry up or docked clays. Or the ones who fiddle with their cartridge orientation as...

    Tramlines Who?

Whilst trying not to sound abrasive, your reply isn't anything to do with what I have asked. Im not fussed on your mount picture, or the number of carts put through your shotgun. I asked what brands have tramlines on the top rib. A common theme on the forum is threads moving out of what the op...

    Tramlines Who?

Probably means inch perfect as in accurate and repeatable.

    Tramlines Who?

It maybe that the others I have tried have no mid bead, which is causing the 'not sure if it's in the right place' quandary.

    Tramlines Who?

I own a Mk38 Sporter which has tramlines that run down the top rib, which i find helps with gun mount and making sure im centred along with the mid bead of course. What other manufactures use tramlines on their top ribs, as I'm struggling to find alternatives?

    Tighter choke for newbies?

In an interview with George Digweed and Anthony Matarese, they discussed chokes. George mentioned it can be beneficial for newcomers to the sport to shoot full choke to improve accuracy during practice and training. Then opening it up a bit in comps to get a buffer, which makes rudimentary...

    CPSA smiles on the north!

£83 for 120 is a massive rip off, swallowable for a 200 birder.

    Time for a treat

I can’t offer much advice on which gun to buy but I can help with Premier Guns. I would say there gun buying service is quite poor. Very unprofessional, not very initiative driven when browsing and considering they are based on a clay ground they don’t even watch and offer advice when gun...

Another price increase for cartridges at end of January

Good insight and i can now see why most places stock a wide range of Fiocchi/Express range. Rarely do you get Hull and Gamebore on offer. My local has a good range of Fiocchi and will order in B&P at request. Good to understand some of the nuance behind it.
