I see that on the Browning web site the B725 Black action has been Nitrided.
Is this new and will it rub off like the blacking on a Black Edition I had. Which I guess was blued?
Any info on this gratefully received
The manuals for my Browning and Miroku guns say just put a little oil on the choke threads. No grease mentioned.
I do just that and clean the gun after shooting and pop out the chokes, wipe clean, oil, put back in.
Never had a stuck choke to date
A bit of clay has taken a chunk out of my comb.
The hole is about 4mm round and 3-4mm deep.
Can anyone advise the best way to fill the hole.
Unfortunately it's not a dent/depression so filling I think is the only option. :(
It's on a grade 5 Miroku stock.
Thanks
I shoot skeet with my Browning B725 30" sporter, quite successfully.

Considered my last shoot and what I can do better at my next shoot - mainly getting better at hold and kill points and being consistent, oh, and keeping better focus on the clay. I'm sure the list could be a lot longer though .........
One thing I can't control is the ruddy wind blowing the...
Interesting thread.
I wear daily varifocals but use bifocals for shooting and both work well.
But I occasionally have a focus issue for mid range, 5-10 feet when wearing the bifocals and I was told that a tri-focal might help but I'm not sure whether they would impinge on distance or confuse the...
There seems to be a lot of discussion about gun balance which made me wonder what people prefer, whether it is a discipline thing or just personal preference.
I was wondering what people prefer and why?
@westley - looking really good, worth the time investment.
@Hermit - hmm, apart from rubbing it down with 00 I have only oiled it twice and it is much better, not had time for a full refurb but it is much better.
Just read this entire thread - knackered now.....
I am no expert and just enjoy my shooting SC and skeet, but I couldn't believe what I was reading. So much vitriol at times.
I know a few friends who have been to Ben for coaching and a couple more than once. All have nothing but positive...
@etonwick
Just as a counterpoint to the above.
I shoot with many people who use semi auto's some prefer them some for softer recoil etc.
I can honestly say I cannot remember the last time I saw someone swing a barrel around or move onto or off the stand without a flag in the action.
If anyone...
I was due, last week, to have the B725 looked at but the 692 has broken.
Forend fell off...... the 'rocker' adjuster has a broken part and I'm waiting for Beretta to deliver the new part. Hopefully have it sorted by next week and then I can look at getting the B725 adjusted.
Still thinking...
For me it's more about cast.
On my Beretta which has cast my eyes are pretty much level.
On my B725 I have to cant my head over to look straight down the rib and that means my left eye lifts up and tries to take over. Hence my recent thread on bend it or fit an adjustable comb.
Leaning towards...
As long as the adjustable comb allows me to move my cheek across enough without the 'ridge' pressing in then I'll be happy.
Gun up I don't have an issue as I can make myself fit, it's gun down where I notice the offset and need that little extra cast/comb adjustment.
Be interesting to see how...
Thanks for the advice.
The adjustable stock will be for my B725.
My 692 fit me me perfectly, it has a little cast added.
I'll take both to the fitting and then decide. At the moment I'm thinking just add an adjustable comb.
Good point about the added weight, not really thought about that. My gun is a tad nose heavy and I guess it might put the point of balance further back and possibly make is swing a lot quicker. Hmmm!
I'll add balance into my question list - thanks
Thanks for the replies, I'm leaning towards an adjustable comb.
I was recommended Simon Willmore at Doverage earlier today. Anyone used his services?
I understand you can post just the stock and he does excellent work with a turnaround within a week......tbc of course, not spoken with him yet.
Thoughts and experiences please.
I have 2 o/u's a Beretta 692 2nd hand with quite a bit of cast that mounts perfectly for me and a B725 sporter that is straight and unless I cant my head I am looking down the left hand side.
Would you have the stock bent or would you make it into an adjustable...
