Blued action vs Nitrided - Brownings

I see that on the Browning web site the B725 Black action has been Nitrided. Is this new and will it rub off like the blacking on a Black Edition I had. Which I guess was blued? Any info on this gratefully received

    Stock Damage Repair

A bit of clay has taken a chunk out of my comb. The hole is about 4mm round and 3-4mm deep. Can anyone advise the best way to fill the hole. Unfortunately it's not a dent/depression so filling I think is the only option. :( It's on a grade 5 Miroku stock. Thanks

    Balance - preferences

There seems to be a lot of discussion about gun balance which made me wonder what people prefer, whether it is a discipline thing or just personal preference. I was wondering what people prefer and why?

Bend it or make it adjustable?

Thoughts and experiences please. I have 2 o/u's a Beretta 692 2nd hand with quite a bit of cast that mounts perfectly for me and a B725 sporter that is straight and unless I cant my head I am looking down the left hand side. Would you have the stock bent or would you make it into an adjustable...

    Stock Pitch

Can anyone explain the importance of pitch to me please. I have shot a Browning 725 as my main clay gun, but I recently bought a mint condition Beretta 692 just because I have never shot a Beretta o/u apart from the odd 'go' with a friends gun. The 692 has more pitch, the bottom of the stock...

Beretta wood - needs a feed

I have just picked up what feels like a sleeper gun. A 2015 692 in new condition, it looks like it has been stored as it came in the case wrapped as a new gun. My question - the wood feels very dry and there are some open pores so what's best to feed it with. My inclination was just a good...

    Ear protection

Hi I use passive in ear protection but I also want to get a set of electronic over ear muffs but which ones. I do have some Howard Leight Impact Sport muffs, usually worn by my son, but when I use them they always knock on the stock however I try and position them. Does anyone know of any...

    Gun fitting - East Sussex

Hi,  I am getting increasing frustrated by my gun as my mount seems to be inconsistent and although I am told the gun fits by a respected dealer I am not so sure so I would like to remove doubt and get a 2nd opinion by a known expert. Anyone know of any said expert near East Sussex? Thanks

    Cracked stock

My Miroku G5 stock has cracked around the grip, It's a year old and has been sent back to Browning/Miroku for a warranty repair. The crack is hairline and not right the way through so the wood has not separated. I have been told that they don't always honour the warranty for wood breakage so I...

    Target distance

I was trying to work out the distance to a target today which I guessed was about 70 ish yards away. It seemed very far. It was a teal popping up over trees behind a bank so i had no clear view of the ground to estimate distance. But, there was a very discernible delay between bang and the...

    Shotgun Balance

Quick question: My MK38 balances at the front of the action where it breaks open. I am finding that I have to positively 'push' the gun on crossers. I would like to make the gun swing easier with a perceived more fluid action.  If I add 2 or 3 oz's into the stock bolt hole will that achieve...

    Back up gun?

I only shoot sporting disciplines with my Miroku MK38 but in the past when the weather has been vile I have shot my Franchi Affinity as it is pretty weatherproof. Call me a softy but in the past I have worried about the MK38 G5 wood getting wet. I hardly shoot the Franchi any more as I have...

Is your gun a tool or something you worry will get damaged?

I was talking to a reputable gun dealer earlier who says he considers guns as tools and I shouldn't worry about getting it wet or the odd knock. Use it and enjoy it. I do subscribe to the above but I bought a G5 MK38 rather than a G1 as I like the engravings and the better quality wood and as...

    |Slip on stock pad

Following the blacking falling off my B725 I bought a Miroku MK38 G5 sporter which I am really enjoying.   The grip and stock dimensions are slightly different and I am using a Beartooth slip on stock extender while I assess which length spacer to add. The Beartooth does not fit the stock very...

    Opaque patch for shooting glasses

I have always had very independent vision in my eyes and have struggled lately with my left eye trying to take over particularly with left to right crossers. I have resorted to cutting an approx 10mm bit of masking tape and putting on the in side of my left lens to obscure only the end of the...
