    This is the new discipline.

You could go back to manual traps! :)

    This is the new discipline.

Ummm. 10 birds per stand is still 10 stands, up to 4 traps per stand is up to double the number of traps for a sporting shoot. Oops.  If they'd said up to 20 birds per stand you could have got away with 1/2 the land space and the same amount of traps. Not so. Our current generation can do up...

    Guntrader data leak

if you are concerned that your data is included put your email data into the site https://haveibeenpwned.com/ and it will list all the known breaches of your private details. Google has taken down the site and I believe the Police are involved but the hunt sab site is hosted in Iceland so they...

Beware of Thieves at your club or shooting ground

If you'd told me before I got involved with the clay counting controls that installing a system would save a ground 30% of their stock outlay I'd have laughed at you. I now know that that is the bottom end and some grounds do discover that they have been mugged by all and sundry. Even modest...

    Prize money.

My point exactly, you are not paying 'over the odds' you are paying what it costs to run a decent shoot. No one sets up a business to make a loss. ( well that's not strictly true but that's another discussion )

    Prize money.

Cost of building a half decent clubhouse? £250k? The capital value of that has to be 2k a month alone. My point is that someone has to invest their money and will expect at least 5% return on that investment ( most will want more, significantly more )

    Prize money.

This argument has been going on longer than most of us have been in the sport! My take on it is: Unlike the US, the number of shooters is quite limited. There is only so much 'pie' to be had and there are quite a few grounds trying to make a living from clay shooting. The cost of running a...

    First time

Managed to wander round Fauxdegla sporting this morning. 9 months or so since I shot anything. Couldn't miss! 200 targets and I dropped maybe 20 or 25. Shot most of them gun down,  Singles, report pairs, simmos.  Lovely cool morning up in the Welsh hills with a view for miles. Bloody marvelous...

    Stolen Shotgun

Oh, I get your drift. The 'I'm all right Jack' approach of making the criminal go to the neighbours! You have confirmed my point. Home invasions on the rise driven by more burglar alarms being installed. What happened in South Africa is a lesson to be learned from, not ignored.

    Stolen Shotgun

And an alarm does what exactly? A box on the wall is as much a deterrent as a full alarm system. Few people respond to an alarm, a response service costs a lot more than £500 and someone who is determined to have your firearms/SG will get them anyway ...... perhaps by home invasion style...

Has shooting started in Scotland and wales

A journalist asked Dreyford directly, if you are Welsh and travel less than 5 miles but cross in to England what is the law. At which point he got all tongue-tied and dodgy. I was yelling at the radio for the journalist to ask him, in the middle of his bumbling excuse for a response, 'and what...

    trap machines

Promatic, refurb or a smaller Ranger or similar. Depends on what what you want really. If it's a guarantee it'll be working in 20 years time and still have spares and service available then can't beat a Promatic trap. ( PS I do have a vested interest! ) :)

    Oh, how I wish...

and to now not be allowed shooting as well ....... Oh  THaaaat shooting. Don't joke, the 'leader' Julius Malema ( Chief sh*t stirrer ) of the EFF in South Africa proposed Friday that all dating and unmarried *** in the country be made an offense. They already have a complete ban on alcohol...

    Another shooting ground closes.

Shooting, flying, sailing, I'll bet the local lawn bowls club gets the same. Still it's the same in life in general, a few people doing the work and the rest taking advantage of their industriousness and moaning about how they are doing it too! :)

    Another shooting ground closes.

That path has been explored. A GPS needs several things. Power, an antenna to 'see' the GPS birds and another one to transmit an 'I'm being stolen' alert.  Now if you are a scrote stealing traps ...... 1 - you disconnect the battery and 2 - you smash/remove or disable any antennas you see on...

    Another shooting ground closes.

The surprising thing is traps are never seen again. This has been going on for years and Promatic is aware of the problem and has modified its marking so that the serial number is embedded into the frame of the trap. And we simply never see them. Frequently the nature of the thefts ring of...
