The 2014 North of England Sporting Selection shoots have been confirmed. As usual the best three scores are to count from the five selection shoots:

- Sunday 18th May: Coniston Shooting Ground

- Sunday 1st June: Oaklodge Shooting Ground

- Sunday 22nd June: North Wolds Shooting Ground (Fibre Wads only)

- Saturday 5th & Sunday 6th July (shoot either day): Beverley Clay Target Centre

- Sunday 20th July: Spennymoor Shooting Ground.

Good luck to everyone competing!

When selected Nicky, who do they shoot against? Is it just the national inter-counties?

They shoot in the Regional competition at the British Open as the North Region and the selection procedure also facilitates the selection of official County teams for the National Inter-counties.

Thanks Nicky.

Are there any plans yet to move the Northern region to be the same as the others by creating official county committees who can help increase the people coming into the sport in their particular areas?

No short term plans that I know of...

Ok. It is a shame because with shooting getting a media facelift it would have made the North stronger with its own county committees drawing more people in with local events.

Does the North Region organise anything like have a go days or the likes to bring people into shooting. It is ages since I left so not sure what they are upto these days.
