Hi all,

Are there any disadvantages to using smaller carts in larger chambers?

Im after some Lyalvale HV fibre 24g,but only available in 65mm.My gun is 70mm chamber.

Are there any disadvantages in not matching your cartridge to chamber length,or is this not a problem?

Ive got 250 21g Gamebores in 65mm,so i hope not!

I seem to recall shooting the shorter shells with no problems though.

Many thanks.

My 2 clay gun are 3in chambers so Iv no choice but use smaller cartridge, manufacturers must think it makes no difference or why put 3in chamber on a dedicated clay gun

I think y

I think you will find all modern guns are crome plated inside the barrels and proofed for 3" magnum to accommodate steel shot, for the day when lead is banned in England, as it is in other European countries.

Would a 22 year old Browning 325 be considered a "modern" gun?

If it's a sporter wth multichoke and an adjustable trigger then in my mindit's No less modern than any other... most of the changes are cosmetic and in the way the are manufactured.

Most of the popular guns are designs that were conceived 70+ years ago. Exceptions being that new Benelli thing and the Browning Cynergy and possibly Blaser.
