Hi,

Dumb question I suppose but do toilets have a standard outlet height from the floor level to the soil pipe? Are the outlet diameters standard also?

I'm planning on replacing the 20 year old bathroom that was fitted when the house was built, I'm more than happy to deal with the strip out and replacement of the tiles, bath, shower and sink but the toilet thing I don't have a clue. As the electrical work has cost me a lot more than expected I'm going to have to do the bathroom myself.

The floor level will be raised by about 10-15mm from where it is currently, No More Ply, tiles etc.

Cheers for any advice!!,

Jon.

You will need a pan connector to connect wc to soil pipe. You can get flexible ones now if you have enough room behind it.

Take a pic on your phone before you pull it apart and go down to a proper (not B&Q!) building supplies place. They'll have Multiquick connectors for all the normal layouts.

Remember too that WCs vary with positioning of the water inlet & overflow pipes. Plumbing the water can be more of a pest than connecting the soil pipe.

I think with the water buy-laws these days it also requires each fitting eg: taps, toitlets, etc to be fitted with its own isolation valve so you don't have to drain to much water down. Its a good idea to do this anyway as you can turn off any individual water point with out having to turn off the whole house at the main stopcock if there are any problems later on.This can be done with a small chrome ball-a-fix valve, you can also get flexable pipes with the valve already attached.

Thanks all :)

tiptop, I was planning to use isolators anyway as it make little jobs far easier :)

I installed them in the kitchen on everything even though they weren't required. I'm not worried about the plumbing side, just the waste connector but thanks for the heads up so hopefully I can get a toilet with the connections on the same side as current.

I try and avoid B&Q, Wickes, Homebase etc. at all costs, I am fortunate to have maybe 6 specialist trade plumbing places within 5 minutes drive plus Toolstation, Screwfix etc :)

Jon.
