Clarkson should be sacked !

A far better host would be James Martin the Chef.

Whilst we are at it sack the bumbling hairy toff and Gollum the Brummie .

Bring back a sensible motor show and stop wasting tax payers money on jollies abroad for three *******.

Ref your last sentance only - I agree with the jollies bit, but sadly some 35,000,000 people around the world wouldn't. I'm not saying they are right, but that's an awful lot of reasons to not go back to the old format.

The issue is, is it meant to be a motoring magazine or an entertainment show? It has clearly moved from one format to the other, which means for some people it's now neither. Personally, I think it's run it's course and the whole show needs binning.

Ref Clarkson, IF, and I emphasise IF he threatened or hit someone then he should go. End of.

Having said that, Clarkson may well be a bellend. But one thing is certain, he's no fool. My guess is that he's done this on purpose, as a publicity stunt. His contract is up this month, so why not raise the profile? We know this kind of thing sells papers, so no doubt it will increase bids for his services from other providers?

If I recall, the "normal " version of Top gear about 15 years ago, with measured car reviews, faded due to lack of interest. It was only the new version that found big viewing figures and success. The edgey comedy trio is what has made it, not the careful analysis of new Vauxhalls. I'm not saying that it's not a bit frustrating for the car purist, but the point is I can watch it with my wife.

I'm just saying that taming it back to a pure car show is proven not to work. Look at the Gadget show on 5. All their reviews are done in weird ways. Including getting Amber Hill to shoot random stuff.

I owe Clarkson a beer!!

a few years back I got a phone call from a man asking to borrow my car for the program.

we agreed everything when I got there it certainly wasn't what I agreed and the disclaimer they asked me to sign saying that if they damaged or blew up my car they wouldn't be held responsible well they got told to shove that where the sun don't shine!

And they didn't pay my F*king expenses!

well that person was the person who Clarkson had the kerfuffle with!

Its a car show not a cooking show. I suppose you sit around all night watching Emmerdale.

I have had dinner with Clarkson in the vip at Goodwood festival of speed and he did not smack me. Really nice down to earth bloke.

Love the program its far better than those miserable soaps which are on every night depicting Northern misery.

If anyone wants the old style motoring show then there is always that dreary Fifth Gear with the even drearier presenters !

Personally I like Clarkson's style of presenting and he is well supported by Hammond and May...they tell it like it is .....

Tinker bell said:
Clarkson is a rare British treasure who is not governed by PC correctness bollocks.....he just says what many are thinking.

#doesnotgiveastuff
True, but his stance on PC issues has no actual bearing on the reason he's been suspended. You surely don't think it's OK for him to go around punching people? (If of course that's what he did)

In my view, if you hit someone at work you risk loosing your job, unless of course you happen to be a pugilist

Can't see why being a "British Treasure" should change that?

I might be deemed as being great at my job, i think i am :haha:  , I'm certainly politically incorrect most of the time, however if i 'supposedly' punched someone, i would be dismissed on the spot

I've seen comments on news websites from people that seem to really dislike clarkson and the show, but have a lot to say on the matter. I don't know why they don't just vote with their remote control and switch over.

As for the big foreign jollies I agree, the license fee shouldn't be used to fund these trips. In fact I don't like paying a license fee as a forced tax at all. It's about time the BBC dropped the license fee in favour of a subscription based service, then the quality of the output would increase.

Reed Hastings, CEO of netflix says broadcast tv only has 15 more years left. He might be right. I much prefer choosing to watch what I want to watch, when I want to watch it. The original output being streamed by the big net based subscription companies is of a far higher quality than anything the bbc has put out for years, apart from natural history, which they are great at.

Funny how the bbc have been a massive part of the media outcry with clarkson, but covered up 30 years of kiddy fiddling and tried to pretend it never happened.

Top Gear is supposedly sold world wide earning a fortune for the BBC so its format is very successful.  The fact that some think the overseas jollies are expensive is irrelevant in those circumstances.  If you don't like it turn over - its what I do when football is on!  The BBC is apparently full of biased lefty tree huggers and Clarkson goes against the grain on that front and good for him.  Let's wait and see what crawls out of the woodwork on this.  Who knows what really happened and to what degree he has been provoked and for how long!

I care less about clarkson than I do about the CPSA, and that is saying something.

If he struck a colleague, he should be fired...simple, gross misconduct. I don't care if he is talent, management or a deity.

Clarkson or the CPSA... Like choosing the least extinct dinosaur,

Not sure I agree with 'stricking a colleague' being gross misconduct ? Just watching the Rugby and based on that idea half of each squad would need to be sacked. I have witnessed numerous punch-ups, usually at the company Christmas party. A dressing down the following day at work and they are usually forgotten by 1st January. Never seen one of the culprits sacked......but of course non of them have been JC.

As for the foreign jollies TG is sold worldwide and is the single largest revenue earner for the Beeb. I hardly call this spending licence payers money on jollies. Sounds like a sound investment if you ask me so keep up the good work I say.

I dare the Beeb to sack Clarkson! Top Gear would disappear within a year without JC and they ( the Beeb) would be staring at a £50 million hole in their income stream per year.

times that by 3 Top Gear brings in £150m a year thats ludicrous!, their jollies I doubt cost 1% of that!
