Have any Guerini owners out there ever had experience of the forend release button sticking?

No problem with mine a bit stiff when I first got it but fine now

Nothing worse than the screw thread getting a bit loose on my Maxum.

lug on barrel prob dry ? cover with a smear of silicone grease, plus pop a bit in the forend's lock piece with a fine artist brush ...super lube does the job

Never had a problem with my forend but there is no button on mine ... Should there be ?

Yes, when I had my Summit the button screwed itself in and stuck! I had to get hold of it with a very fine pair of long nose pliers and unscrew it so that it protrudes and works.
