Cartridge prices on the way up.

Justcartridges have put gamebore and Hull prices up. 

I cant justify £180 per thou of superfasts when £190 gets you Fiocchi FBlacks for example.

But are Fiocchi Fblacks actually better than superfasts? Also one would have to assume that the cost of FBlacks must be on the way up too they are made in Italy whereas the superfasts are made in the UK... something is very wrong when the cost of home produced products is increasing in price faster than imported products given that the £ now buys about 15% less of anything priced in Euros. Or is it just a case of British made cartridges just being assembled from componentry bought in Europe? Fiocchi and Cheddite sell all of the components needed to make a cartridge.

Ian Coleys have said they are putting their prices up 18% across the board......

Do they still have the machine that shakes you by the ankles as you leave? Has always been ferociously expensive, mind you flying to work in a helicopter doesn't come cheap...

This is nothing but pure profiteering, if companies genuinely have an fx risk and are stupid enough to not take provision in a year of guaranteed volatility it is outrageous to expect that customers to wear the downside, they won't pass on an upside...

I've got 2 secure as they can be shipping containers in the farm yard.**  I've often thought about getting together a local consortium together to buy by the container. 

I don't know the legalities behind it and right now i'm too busy at work to think too much about it.

You'd make a few quid if you imported from overseas- buying direct is no problem from the UK manufacturers but you will only get trade price which isn't much of a saving.

the retailers aren't the ones calling the shots so to speak, they make naff all. The manufacturers make the wedge.

The subject of cartrige prices came up again today. 

Seems like this and entry costs are making people look at their shooting habits amd the cost vs what you get from it.

I love my clay shooting. But there has to be a limit of what can be done at a resonable outlay. 

Over the last few weeks i've been able to have a day off in the week, completely free absolutly zilch to do except do what I want.

So I gets up on the first free day and go to a localish ground an hour drive away.. it was dark wet and cold..  

In the past I would have thought never mind it's time pulling the trgger even if the weather wasn't great.

When I've had the time to do this in the past or have a bit of mid week practice. 5-6 years ago the cost never seemed to be an issue.

What shocked me was how much now is  £52 for a slab of carts(and not the best).. £ 30  clays. So outlay of £82+ fuel for basically 3 1/2 hours of being out of the house.

I can afford it but having my responsble head on I thought. Whatever way you look at it that's an expensive way of spending your spare time just throwing lead at pottery for no particular reason. It's not like it's it's the time of year when you would put in some practice for a big comp.

Ok I had some carts left over but the next week. I thought why bother especially at this time of year when it's dark  cold and wet. Might as well save the carts and wait until the weekend and doing a comp.

Seems like i'm not the only one.

Do not start teaching Grandkids using a small bore then, THAT really will shock you,   28 bores in 16 grams are dearer than 12 bore 28 gram by a hell of a lot !

Most hobbies are costly, and few are insulated from rising costs, we (wife shoots with the same enthusiasm as i) keep a spreadsheet.motoring,entry,hotel and shell costs year on year and its a bit of a shock at the end of the year.From previous experience try any form of competitive motorsport,waterskiing,radio controlled flying particularly heli's scuba diving, i was an open circuit mixed gas diver £200 for gas to last 40 mins, plus travel to south coast, hotel entertainement and more gas for the afternoon dive a weekend away could be a £1000 easy with the weather playing a spoiler at any time.And the gas you bought is depth specific so may not be any good for next saturday. After these shooting is relatively cheap.

I was looking recently at shoot costs in america in light of threads of this nature and my impression is while they have some amazing facilities but costs reflect this,i recently checked entry costs for a compak in Poland i believe,again very steep, i feel we have much to be thankful for.

The cost of other sports is not in my book a reason to justify the cost in another.  

I think that to most the sharp increases in prices at each economical event but non existant decrease when you would naturally expect one just baffles and irks people.

Well I love my twice weekly shooting and while it is relatively expensive, it is not extortionate I pay €14 for four rounds of UT and about €25 for the cartridges add €20 for fuel. So for about 4 hours of enjoyment split over two days I pay €30 per day.... I actually call that good value!

I don't think any price increases can be laid solely at the door of Brexit either the pound has rallied to about  €1.19 just now so while down on just pre Brexit ( €1.30 ish ) it has been much lower in the past... there is money to be made out of this Brexit lark methinks.

Apparently Gamebore have advised RFDs that from the 13th prices are set to rise again due to the increased cost of lead. Naturally all the others companies will follow suit.
