choke dilema

Hi All, hoping you can help, I have been trying to get my Krieghoff exported to the UK (I'm in Australia) to have Teagues fitted. (You have to send the entire gun to the uk) but the freight forwarder in Australia is having issues getting it on a plane. (They have been trying for a month and it's still here in Australia.) So to my dilemma, I have a second set of barrels for this gun that are 28" multichoke (the ones I am sending are 30") and the 28" have old Bailey thin walls (not sure which series) so I am considering aborting the export and sending both sets to Mialls (the australian bailey guys that can do the work locally) to try and get the current chokes identified, and then hopefully buying a full set, and getting the 30" bored out to take the same, so I'll have one set of chokes that will do both barrels.What are your thoughts? any issues with bailey thin walls? Should I persevere and wait till I can get it sent to Teagues?

Pros/Cons?Thanks in advance

Absolute no brainer. Get them both done at home, there is no quantifiable difference between chokes performances except the names. 

A month to export to the UK just for Teagues is like me catching a bus to Shiraz to buy a Persian carpet when I could drive to Maidstone and get one today.

Thanks for the info Hamster, one of my concerns was with the quality of the local guys work in regard to boring and threading, as although they are the Australian "authorised" dealer/centre, I have heard some rather poor reports. Obviously could have just been disgruntled individuals, but it always adds an element of doubt.

One of the few downsides with being in australia is your limitation of choice in many things, especially in specialist engineering services in a minority field like shooting.

I think your Bailey's are probably Briley's.

If your local Guy is an authorised Briley workshop he should be good enough to do a good enough job.

(Any one notice how I didn't slag off a Krieghoff in this thread? ) It's part of my bit to Save the Children and Sport Relief  )

First question, Why do you want M/Chokes fitted?  Why is there an issue getting it on a plane? is your freight handler any good? no reason not to get it shipped without problems!

I want multi chokes as I shoot 90% skeet and 10% sporting, my 28" barrels are fine for olympic skeet, but to whippy for normal. my 30" fixed are 1/4 and 3/4 (and a pretty tight 3/4) which is ok for practice, but a handicap for comp.

I normally practice with extra full and extra full, so there is no kidding yourself in regard to your sight picture, you're either on it, or off it. I then switch to skeet and skeet for comp. (keep in mind that what i have just described is what I do with my 32" DT10 which is my spare that I am using whilst waiting for my krieghoff to get back.

For a bit of background, I used to (13 years ago) shoot a lot of olympic skeet, but haven't shot (pretty much at all) for over 12 years now and have just got back in to it in the last 7 months, so  just relearning skeet for a start and will hopefully progress to olympic, currently shooting average of 23.5 per round of standard skeet and with gun up, but not premounted (I've never liked pre mounting) and 21.5 from olympic gun down position, so I'm relatively happy with the progress so far just need to lock those sight pictures in and then clean up the mount.

In regard to airlines apparently it is always an issue when leaving australia, I have been told that some transit destinations won't let the plane through, and on other airlines the pilot has to sign for the firearm themselves and accept responsibility for it. Strangely enough it is apparently rarely a problem on the way back in??? However, it is sorted now, thanks for your comments guys
