Hi, looking for a personal coach who teaches maintained lead in south Gloucestershire, any suggestions please?

Before you decide that you want to shoot maintained lead, watch the videos that Ben Husthwaite has put on you tube, maintained lead isn’t the method for every target you need to master other methods of shooting as well

Well Ben has stated publicly more than once on this very forum that maintained is the worst method of all. I would however suggest that among the 20 or so of the very top sporting shots around, that he's in a minority of 1 or 2 on this.

If it were a case of "Do as I say not as I do", then he probably wouldn't be in a minority. 😉

Can't argue with his results though!

Ben does seem to go to great and impressive lengths to explain his ideas and methods.

I’m not so sure that maintained lead is such a bad method. John Bidwell and Chris Childerhouse are two very competent shooters who spring to mind that use maintained lead on most if not all targets.

Personally, I find with loopers (my nemesis) I have more success with maintained lead. Gill Ash advocates maintained on loopers, but how he describes typical missed targeted (behind and underneath) is not how I typically miss them, missing over the top when I try pull away which is Ben’s preferred method I believe. To be fair though, he does advocate learning all methods on all targets which to me does sound like good advice.
